I'm Reminded Why I Love This Series
Wow, Star Wars: Legacy continues to blow me away. In terms of plot, almost nothing happens here. The moment on the cover never even takes place. So why is this issue so awsome? The answer is quite simple. Writer, John Ostrander, is fantastic at character work. He's like the Ed Brubaker of the Star Wars universe, maybe even better. I know that might sound crazy, but his flawless character work and amazing knowledge of the vast Star Wars history makes him one of the single greatest writers I've ever seen.
With such a huge cast now, we were in dire need of an issue like this, where each of the characters are analysed. In some cases, I almost wish that we had more time to flesh out some of the other characters, like Jariah Syn for example. But oh well. Ostrander only has so many pages to work with, and he made the best out of them.
The art is also really good. I love what Jan Duursema is doing (BTW, I spelled "Duursema" TOTALLY wrong in my last review. I am so sorry, Jan, if you are reading this but your last name is super complicated).
Overall, I can't think of anything that I didn't like here. It's a great issue. After several slow issues, I am once again reminded why this is one of my favorite ongoing books. It's good to see the series pick up again.
