Didn't Stand Out... But I'm Reviewing it Anyway

This was a good issue. At first, I wondered if a descent story could be told in only two issues. I was suprised to find that this story was actually very good. It did what it needed to do and it only needed two issues to get the job done. The pace was fine. There was drama, there was action and there was intensity. Though we all know that Celeste is obviously not going to kill Vader, there is still a level of "oh my god, what happens next?". Maybe that's because the battle is so dragged out? I dunno, but I'm digressing. The bottom line is that this is a good comic.

Vector's going strong. There's some great evil stuff going on. One thing I didn't get though is that apparently Vader's plotting to overthrow Palpatine. My quesiton is... what? Since when? That was the only thing that bothered me. Other than that, this was solid.

The art... well that was weird. I was really digging the art in the previous issue. It was fantastic. For some reason, and I have a theory, the art changed here.  I read somewhere that the artist draws in such detail that it takes him forever to get the stuff done. My theory is that since these Vector issues are under strict time constraints, that this artist needed help in order for the comic to fit the schedual. Needless to say, the art here is done by two different people. The stuff done by the guest artist is okay. It's not bad. Frankly, its better than some of the other stuff I've seen in the Star Wars books, especially in the recent KOTOR issues. Overall, I think that the choice Dark Horse made was good. I'm glad that the regular artist got to draw the second half even if that meant the first half was a little less detailed. It was a sacrifice, but it worked in the end. All things considered, this was a good move I think.

Overall stuff? Well, we see the death of a major character (I think), Vader getting pissed (how many times have we seen that?) and the best part, an AWSOME cliffhanger. So yeah, in terms of plot, this is cool. The writing is good. The art is good. What else do you need? I dunno. All I know is that Vector has greatly improved since it changed hands. It's made me rethink being a steady KOTOR reader. Perhaps I should go and read this comic now?
