Fantastic!
As with most people, I'm sure I wasn't the only one holding my breath when this cross over was announced. Heck, I remember Joe Quesada saying that they would never have a cross over between the 616 and 1610 Marvel Universes. I really was hoping for the best with this series.
How could I have ever though Brian Bendis would not deliver on Spider-Man?
This series is so far, so AWESOME. I love the interaction in this issue between Peter and Miles, each one feeling the other out, to see who the other is. The action sequence between them might not be a full out battle, but it does quickly distinguish the character differences, and also similarities. It seems to put into perspective the choice to have Miles take over the mantle of the "spider."
Even in the end when they cross paths with Nick Fury, and he lets them go, he seems to understand that this is exactly what Miles needs. Fury had said he would not make the same mistakes with Miles that he did with Peter. Quickly realizing that the best way to teach Miles how to be Spider-Man is to leave it up to the 616-Peter, is exactly in line with Fury's character; he is always looking for the easiest way out of things.
This series is delivering big time, and frankly, is meeting up with the potential to be what the Miles character needs in order to grow into his role as the "Web Slinger."
