Just spent a very interesting morning at Sony with the entire spidey movie team!! Very very cool stuff!! 

I just assumed that would be the direction.  I mean rebooting to high school sounded Ultimate to me.
Personally, I love Ultimate Spider-Man, but I worry about the translation and transition onto the screen.   
It could be really cool, having all those characters cast younger so we could have more movies, or at least film a couple of them at a time.  It's spider-man so regardless of how bad it could be it's still going to make Sony money

I still hold the belif that Ultmate universe was made to cover the difrences in the movies an the marvel mu.Tall wolverine,nick fury being sam jackson etc etc.

Sounds like they're aiming at Ultimate then. =/  
 
I was hoping they'd do it a bit more like the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon... And make it more fighting-gangster-crime-bosses centric in the first film.  
And then lead up to a Stacey death in a second or third installment, plausibly.  
But my dreams are naught, it seems. -sigh-

I wish spider-man was at Marvel and not sony!  It sucks because Raimi left because Sony was trying to stir the creative pot to much so whos to say they wont do the same with Webb?
 
I'm ok with them using Ultimate Spider-man as the source material but please please no monster goblin!! And if they do venom some day down the road do the regular venom and not the ultimate venom like in spider-man 3

Ya that would be cool for sure. Now that disney bought back the TV rights to  spider-man I wonder what is happening with that cartoon. I dont think they can continue it now, but im not sure.

Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite comic and is what got me reading comics. Bendis does a brilliant job redefining the character and if the film was based on the Ultimate comic would beat the HELL out of the first one

I wouldn't mind the reboot to be Ultimate Spiderman
it would be interesting, atleast then maybe Liz Allen & Kitty Pryde can appear :D 

As long as it's a good story with good actors - I don't care if it's Ultimate Spidey or not.
(although it would be interesting to see the Ultimate universe's version of the Green Goblin)

While I really do enjoy the twists done to the Ultimate series. I was actually hoping for a more accurate portrayal of the characters. Such as with Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy respectfully. The Ultimate and movie series pretty much did the same thing with MJ. I actually liked how they were done in the Spectacular Spider-man animated series.

The Ultimates are nothing without the 616. It's just an inferior modernized Xerox of something vastly superior. Go the route of the original, it’s almost always better. Besides...in many respects the Raimi films were more like Ultimate Spider-Man anyway. Make this more accurate to the "real" Spider-Man.

Whilst I can appreciate the appeal that the Ultimate version has for some, for me its too "high school" and kiddy friendly, at least that how its seems to me. There are some good elements (I really like the Ultimate Goblin and how some of the other villains look) and some bloody awful stuff (teenage moping about how hard life is for example). And whilst its never too early to speculate (creating anticipation and promising crushing disapointment) I find it hard to envision just how this reboot is going to turn out. I just hope its not all high school teen problems and crappy pop music with a little bit of action thrown in.

Well... is it going to be "gritty reboot" (I've grown to hate that term) or ultimate. 
 
Could it be both? 'Cause I frankly don't see how could it. 
 
Anyway: yeiii ultimate ftw!!

Well there is no stopping it,it is. When you have Zac Efron playing as Peter there is no dought about it. Its going to be more high school musical then high school spider man

The first series kinda felt like a merger of the two universes in some ways. O well, we'll see what happens. Should be at least decent no matter what they choose. Dont have too much to say on this one

 
The only time i read ultimate spiderman it seemed  kiddish. I don't really read regular Spiderman comics either but stick to regular Spiderman.

Noooooooo! I want them to go CLOSER to the original Amazing Spider-man, not FURTHER from it. I really don't want to see some demonic beast as Green Goblin.

As long as this flick isn't as bad as Spidey 3, I'll be happy.
