"Sad" About Sums It Up
For anyone unfamiliar with Sad Sack comics, think of Beetle Bailey, but without the biting social commentary. The jokes here are inoffensive, often to the point of being tepid, with the biggest chuckle coming unintentionally from the dated "Ed Sullivan" references and the lead story's unfortunate title. Jokes about post-traumatic stress disorder also fall a bit flat- maybe they were funnier in 1979, I don't know. Nor, frankly, do I really care.
