Detention: Morning Glories style
The kids all wind up in detention, but its not The Breakfast Club (decent movie by the way).
Pros:
If you read other reviews for this issue on other sites, The Breakfast Club might have came up in some of their reviews. I do dislike comparing this issue to The Breakfast Club, but that's what it reminded me in a way. This issue starts about a day after the first issue's surprising ending. Casey gets sent to "detention" with none other than the other kids from the last issue. The way the other kids got in the current situation that they are in now are both weird (Hunter and Ike), insane (Jade and Zoe), and a bit shocking (Jun), that adds something more to Morning Glory Academy's bizarreness. On top of that, the kids get trapped in the classroom with water filling the room while being monitored by Miss Daramount and Mister Gibbs. I'm starting to get a feel for the characters, more particularly Casey. The dialouge is great with some pop culture reference despite the situation that the kids were in.
The cover is what really help set up this issue so well. The artwork stayed the same from the last issue keeping it subtle and simple. Kudos to Joe Eisma.
Cons:
I don't really have a problem with this issue. I do however, wonder about if secrets about Morning Glories Academy will come to light in a couple of issues. But then again, what' s the fun in ruining the surprise so fast?
Overall: The second issue comes off well. Nick Spenser is making me like this series more and more If you have the time, I would suggest checking up on this series if you're a fan of the teenage, bizarre, supernatural, mystery, high school genre.
