What really did cost for Batwing to join the team?

After the tragedy of last issue our heroes have to deal with the aftermath as well as the people responsible for the terrorist attack. They lost a member but today gained a new one in the form of batwing......let's hope he replaces batman from now on. Seeing him almost every week gets boring.

The issue starts in a different hospital from last issue but still in as a young colored man is visiting a friend till he hears the loud noise of trouble. He pulls out from a case a batsuit revealing to be batwing. We move on when he rescues booster from lightweaver in last issue and team up to face the enemy. Forcing to retreat, the new baddie shoots batwing before leaving as he is starts to fall down to his death. Booster saves him revealing the meaning of “batwing joins…but at what cost?” in the cover of this issue…..apparently saving him from falling from a tall building when he was blasted by a guy who creates constructs like green lantern….yeah….that’s how much it cost for him to join. Meanwhile across town in an NYPD armored truck the cops is transporting the man responsible for the tragic attack on the united nations and the death or injury of members of the JLI. He claims to be named Ronald Norcutt who is a total cliché anarchist……till he starts making the bodies of every officer inside to breakdown to it’s base form and revealing his badass true form who goes by the name “breakdown”. He easily escapes and is greeted by lightweaver and intersek.

Back to booster he is meet up by batman who tells our hero that he was the one who brought batwing and has find out that the terrorist attacks are much more than they thought. Moving to the hospital, Guy is with Tora who seems to show a softer side than usual but godiva, iron general and himself are forced to leave the hospital since they attract fights and get their team disbanded by their superiors. Forced to leave, the three before getting their act together outside are greeted by a big blue giant who comes crashing down from above. It’s revealed to be OMAC from…OMAC……who just got unfortunetly his series cancelled (damn it! After hearing good stuff from it wanted to get into his series but never had the chance). Guy quickly thinks he is part of the group responsive for the U.N attack but OMAC claims he needs a doctor…before making guy need one himself when he hits him with a door of an ambulance. The issue ends with august general charging against OMAC but the blue robot giant thing grabs godiva’s hair and uses her as a weapon knocking them down. Claiming he will kill them if they move.

    The Good:

First off just by the fact that two characters who star in books I failed to realize they were awesome (batwing and OMAC) and instead ended up buying some inferior pieces like mr terrific or captain atom will join the team. Also is good to see them both in here as I will get to know of them in the pages of one of my favorite books around. The pacing was good, the action was good and we are getting more development which is good. Just wish JL had a better streak of solid issues like this one.

    The Bad:

I find it a little odd how some of the villains (except breakdown) kinda have costumes that resemble more hero outfits that from bad guys (lightweaver and intersek look more like superheroes than terrorists) besides that nothing to be noted

    Overall: 4.5/5

This book is great as always and it deserves a lot of praise and readers since it might have some violent scenes but is still a fun book to read….plus for OMAC fans the dude is back and really quick mind you. The last issue of his ongoing came out this week, but I promise I will get the trade the day it comes out since hey....even i can miss one or two series that are awesome without knowing.

This title is one which I find to be somewhat frustrating.  There is so much that can potentially work for it, and yet so much which they choose not to use.  I have been interested in this series on one side because it has many female characters represented, but on the other side they have been mostly relegated to background status while Guy and Booster get the spotlight.  Again though on the other hand, Godiva has shown some great character development and continues to here.  The story here is ...

A Little Bit Too Much 0

Please. Please, can we stop having David Finch drawing these covers? His art is generally good, but he's definitely not been bringing his A Game to JLI. Look at Booster's freaking neck! He's a damn giraffe AGAIN. And while I REALLY admire the balance of this image; the characters are all set in different layers in multiple directions to a GREAT effect; it's just too.... focused. It's too focused on the beginning of the issue. This cover depicts one single scene that's only relevant for about 1/3...
