Preparing for Bad-@$$ery
Good:
The story instantly ups the ante from the last issue:
-Aquaman is conflicted about sides, and tries to prevent total war
-Orm (or Oceanmaster) leveled up from pre New 52 (btw, how long is the New 52 "new"?) and took out the league with his control of the storms and the sea, not to mention Atlantis' army and an army of his own
-Cyborgs conflict between man and machine is delved into, to help save the team, he gives up his remaining lung for upgrades, and only has a human brain and heart remaining
-There are brief mentionings of Dr. T.O. Morrow and project: Metal Men (which was a failure...) so it may foreshadow some cool events into the future, or at least the possibility of the qwerky robot gang reappearance
-at the end of the issue, cyborg mentions "the grid" and calls for reinforcements, Shazam, Zatanna, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Goldrush, Element Woman, and Black Canary, hinting for an issue of awesomeness coming up
The curse of shazam continues, while Sivanna rounds up the deadly sins, Black Adam beats the crap out of Shazam, throwing him through a few buildings and making him bleed, terrifying the 15 year old kid inside and threatening him with death as billy tries to flee and hide. It was quite a bit darker and emotional than last issues... very good though, nice to finally get some good action
Bad:
-The Flash? Where'd barry go? I haven't been reading his current series, so i'm not sure if he's busy with captain boomerang, but he's still missing. I feel as though he may be getting replaced in the new roster, and i'm ok with that, but i would like some closure or explanation
-I'm not sure what's up with the new team... I know a few are in other Justice League titles, so they probably won't be permanent, and Black Canary doesn't seem to fit into the team in any way... As for Shazam and Element Woman, they are definite leaguers (it was previously stated EW would join, but i expected some new background on her, she was very cool in Flashpoint, but has no origin), and as for Goldrush, well i've never heard of them, i sense the goldrush may die before we get to know him/her (and where is the Atom...?). Another idea worth mentioning, is that the add in the back for the JLA, talks about the league having seven god-like members, and there only counts six presently... I'm not sure if DiDio was talking about the league before GL quit, or that someone else may leave when EW and Shazam join
Verdict:
-I am personally enjoying the justice league title, mostly for my captain marvel fix, but the main story has been improving, and this arc is definitely one to jump onto the league bandwagon if you haven't already. Pick it up if you can, worth reading, and the art is quite pretty
