The Day Loki Stole Thor's Magic Hammer

The cover of this one prompts us to believe that we're going to get another Loki invading Earth story, but Lee decides instead to set much of the story in Asgard seemingly for the purpose of allowing Thor to make lots of hammers out of stone and tree trunks like it was nothing. Scripted by Bernstein, this version of Loki comes off as a lot more sinister than his previous somewhat campy incarnations, which is fine, but perhaps a little overdone. Much like the rest of the script in fact, which stumbles along panel to panel building up to a conclusion that merits no surprise. It's also worth mentioning that Sinnott takes over full artistic duties this month and for the most part succeeds in bringing Thor and Loki a much more naturalist rendering, but his Asgard is a little underwhelming in contrast. Overall, a pretty weak outing—especially for a Loki story which by now are becoming way too similar.

Whether Stan Lee recognized that there was a problem and cracked the whip, or last issue was rushed out and this time Sinnott had more time, or maybe there's an uncredited inker seriously polish...

      Keeping Things Loki 0

Loki's still imprisoned as a result of Thor thwarting his scheme to keep Thor from his hammer, thus leaving him in the form of the crippled Don Blake. To get his revenge Loki escapes and... schemes to keep Thor away from his hammer. This is well trodden ground, but the adventure take place in Asgard, which at very least allows Thor to face some new interesting challenges. So we've got a pretty standard setup. Loki while chained to a rock somehow manages to summon Thor's hammer to Asgard, breaking...
