@dondave: That's not from Batman #17. It's from Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?

I hope it's Titus Wayne's head. Hopefully it's just enough to get Damian to kill again.

Personally, it could be the severed heads of everyone that is close to each of the characters. Here's some examples:

    Batman- Alfred

    Batgirl- Her Mother

    Nightwing- His Girlfriend

    You get it?

It's not Alfred. Two-Face, Riddler, and Penguin's reaction doesn't really match up if it was just a severed head. My bet is that it's the decapitated heads of the lion cub. From issue 13 I think.

@Gambit1024: I'll admit, that certainly would fit under the category of "messing with expectations."

Which means, of course, that the unexpected thing under the tray is actually the Spanish Inquisition.

@InnerVenom123: If Alfred is the Joker my head will explode. Alfred became the Joker to make Bruce a better hero. lol

It seems ridiculous Alfred and the Joker could be the same person after all these years, but I wouldn't put it past DC at this point.

Alfred/Joker just had a double in Arkham all those times......

    IT CAN'T BE!!!!!!! NOOOOO

What do you guys have against Great Danes?

Anyways, that wouldn't make any sense. If the head of a dog was under the tray, the other villains wouldn't have been so shocked when it was revealed to them. Same thing goes for Alfred's head. Not to mention Scott himself said that he thought it was funny that everybody thought he was killing Alfred off because he loves the character.

I was talking about it with my best friend and my girlfriend, and...

I think it's Alfred's head. Due to the fact that the other principle family members were all shown on live video feed, apparently in another location, just before it was delivered and the fact that having Alfred's head served on a silver platter would be the kind of extra dig that the Joker could never resist. It would also prove, without question, that Joker knows who Batman is.

But would be the joke in that?

    What's the punchline?

Does the Joker even know who Bruce is?

There are two great theories I've heard.

    Here they are:

Someone on /co/ suggested that there's a mind-swap machine underneath the lid. Joker switches brains with Bruce and becomes the Better Batman.
