Battle of the Acronyms
This issue answers the most interesting but least nagging question, What does Frankenstein do in his free time? I wish we had spent the entire issue on this little detour instead of the one we get, but I'll get to that later. It was actually quite intriguing to have this issue's framing device be a personal sidequest for our hero, rather than a standard mission. We actually get a little look into this stoic's mind.
As for the main part of this issue, it's a rehashing of the O.M.A.C. part of this crossover. It isn't just 'the other side of the story,' a bit too much of this issue is dedicated to treading the same exact ground. And while Frankenstein's battle dialogue is infinitely superior here, not much else really is. The big part of the battle is shortened, and while the panel layouts get more wild and unique, it doesn't really give us a nice 'big battle' feel.
And we see pretty much the exact same side of the side conflict we do last issue, the only things that really change are the establishing scenes and closing scenes.
In Conclusion: 3/5
I wish I could say more, and my score is going to be a little biased. It was a big battle between Frankenstein and O.M.A.C., and O.M.A.C. did it better. Frankenstein had much better dialogue in his own title, but the battle wasn't half as epic as it was in O.M.A.C., and didn't offer us enough new stuff to make both issues completely worth it. So if you're not reading O.M.A.C. but you are reading this, this issue will definitely seem better to you than it was to me. At the very least I'd recommend reading this one FIRST, because then you get the better battle second. This cover also doesn't work as well, the super detail kind of ruins the nice simplicity. This issue is also very important to the next one, but in the end, I have to compare it to O.M.A.C. #5, and I'm sorry to say that O.M.A.C. did it better.
