Stranger things is a blend of 80s Horror, Thriller and somewhat of the detective genre. It's pretty authentic and entertaining, and has a great cast. The synopsis is pretty simple, a boy goes missing and a mysterious creature is at large, and as the townfolk start searching for the boy certain unexplained occurrences fall slowly into place.

Generic horror rarely scares me nowadays and when they do it's usually quick jump-scares, which is more shock than fear.

Mind bending shows that deal with abstract messed up ideas like the Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected and psychological thrillers that really get under your skin are more impactful.

I voted Twilight Zone, but I haven't seen all of the above.

Some other recommendations:

  • Doctor Who: Not all episodes are horror, but they can be pretty great when they are, the best in New Who are probably Blink, The Empty Child, the Girl in the Fireplace, Silence in the Library/the Forest of the Dead, Midnight, the Family of Blood, the Waters of Mars. Anything with the Ood is good.
  • Torchwood: Children of Earth.
  • Black Mirror - White bear, ermagherrrrrrdddd...
  • Dead Set.

Sounds interesting, I'll have to look into that. Thanks dude.

I've seen bits and pieces of Supernatural and have seen good things (especially the anime series) but it's a little daunting to start the whole series what with so many seasons. I do like the 2 lead actors in other things though.

Yes I love Bates Motel and can't wait for the last season. :D

@black_wreath: Dead of Summer is about a summer camp in Wisconsin in the 80s and it is haunted because it was the spot where a serial killer in the 1870s kept his victims kind of. It's interesting. Lots of Satanic cults and whatnot.

I miss Hannibal. I'm waiting for TWD to come back and I'm currently enjoying Scream over the Summer.

Also, I can't wait for Ash vs Evil Dead S2.

@captainmarvel4ever: I couldn't agree more. :)

There are a few episodes that are really remarkable for me. That one with the starmaker squids and this because of the following scenes:

@anna_karenina: Yeah there's way too many stand out scene sand episodes for me to list. Though I agree about both the squid episode and that scene

One of many great shows from a golden era of cartons made by talented people really giving it there all, and making cartoons that were truly all ages

@captainmarvel4ever: One of these days, at my parents', I got very disappointed when I noticed those classic cartoons from my childhood (Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, Courage etc) are no longer on Cartoon Network. :(
