Do you think its possible for someone like the Joker to exist in the real world? Ignoring all the credit Joker takes for his crimes, and how much chaos he causes in the comic book world. I mean realistically possible.

Depends on which version of the Joker. He has been shown as a cult leader, there are cult leaders everywhere. It is 100% likely someone could be the Joker. Not saying they should want to be, but it is very possible to be in control of a large cult following of mindless drones.

The Joker from The Dark Knight would be more plausible than the comic book version.

Briefly, he couldn't pull off the grand movie schemes though.

I'd say maybe. I really all depends on how he carries out his plans.

LOL, no.

Would probably get shot by a whole host of possible gunmen, not limited to local gangs and police officers

No. His plans relied on luck as much they did intelligence.

Exactly. TDK was like a dream. It makes sense when it's happening (the experience of watching), but not when you examine it closely. This is ok, though, because it wasn't the point of the movie.

@leo-343: I think the point was more along the lines of exploring themes of civilization, chaos, morality, justice, etc. in some manner.

I'm sure there's a Dark Knight expert around here who can explain what it was about.

@leo-343: As was I. I agreed with you that Joker's success is improbable in the real world. I just threw in that comment about the nature of the film in general for the heck of it.

Possibly, though not for long.
