The Jedi order was inspired by the order of Wizards archetypes, it's described as a religion by Obi Wan and it all feels very mystical and magic-y in the original trilogy.

While in the new trilogy we had midi chlorians (words cannot expres my hatred for F-ING MIDI CHOLRIANS) and then they made it out to be a mutation, it felt like they were trying to give it a trendy biological explanation instead of unexplainable magic.

but that still doesn't really answer the question, is it that you have to be adept at the force before you can learn how to perform it (Like some fantasy races are just born adept at magic) or is it that you have a natural mutation and have to hone your powers.

and anyway how would it affect Superman, like magic or TK. I was just hoping people could shed some light on it.

Thanks
