First Look at CW Black lightning

DC recently released the first look at Black Lightning(Jefferson Pierce) played by Cress Williams

what are your thoughts?

ehhhh.....6/10 but man this look sort of bad

Would've preferred a Static show, and not really digging those goggles, but if it's interesting I'll give it a look. Still waiting for CW's Justice League to arrive!

I'm torn. I'm a big BL fan, and I'm cautiously looking forward to this. I like the design of the costume pretty well, I agree I'm not a huge fan of the goggles, and maybe I'm just a Black Lightning purist, but the beard puts me off a little. One of the cool things I always liked about Pierce was that his "hair" was part of his mask. If Jefferson is a big guy with a beard, and Black Lightning is a big guy with a beard...

Oooh, not a fan of the look. Hopefully they tweak it some.

Does anyone know if this series is Earth 1, Earth 38, or somewhere else?

I was too, but after looking at it side by side with Iron man I've come around and think it should look good in action

Kind of looks like the Spartan 4 armor with those shoulder parts. Wish this wasn't on CW though.

I think he looks fine, but I won't be sure until I see him in action.

Like most CW costumes, It has a horrible promo pic, it'll probably look better in action.

I am still baffled that, of all the DC characters, they chose to make a TV show based on this character. Even DC comics fans don't care about Black Lightning. He probably has fans, but I don't think the character could even support a low selling book, let alone a TV show.

Not to sound pessimistic, but this show probably won't even last 1/2 a season.

This should be an interesting show but I am not sure that CW is the right platform for this guy. I know that Fox didn't accepted the idea so It makes sense, It landed on CW.

Yeah, I worry about the network they're putting it on too considering A. He's a very adult character (he's got two kids, and I think they're going to actually let one be a teenager in the show). B. CW is a very youth based network.

I'm cautiously hopeful. Black Lightning has been one of my all time favorite comic characters since I first started looking at comics, I hope they do a good job and I hope it lasts. We'll see.

The costume looks really good. Bro is seriously in need of a line up on his hair though.

I'll give it a shot...just don't turn it to a teen soap opera like Arrow, Super girl, and Flash. Just cut Falicity, Iris, and Mon el out of the picture already.

@rdclip: I'm assuming cause he's one of the few comic characters with a family. Like, a happy, well adjusted family. They probably want to play up that aspect.
