As cool as Superman is, I've had zero desire to read any of his titles. They just seem bland to me. Does anybody else share these feelings?
Does anybody read Superman?
There are people feel this way probably but there are also thousands who disagree. There are titles like Action Comics and Superman Unchained that are extremely not bland though. I'd suggest giving them a try.
It depends. Superman suffers from being hard to write. Superman's main comics by Lobdell is crap. I still buy it as it's Supes. Greg paks' run, however has been great so far.
@imthedamnbatman Unchained is picking up steam, i don't read action but I've heard great things. Batman/Superman is alright and i started reading the main Superman title with issue 26 and it was alright.
I just dropped the "Superman" title. I've had enough of Lobdell. But I'm reading Action Comics, Smallville, and Superman/Wonder Woman
His main title has only had a handful of good issues, and Lobdell's been extremely bland. Morrison's Action Comics was great, though, and Unchained has been good so far (with much anticipation building for later.)
Action Comics is amazing. I highly recommend it because it starts from Superman's beginnings and totally redefines the character. I consider it the definitive Superman title.
Superman is average...at best. Action is up and down. Superman Unchained, though only 4 issues in (maybe 5..I've not visited my comics shop in awhile.) is the one I look forward to the most. The best Superman stories are the graphic novels and mini/maxi series (Like Red Son or All Star Superman).
@imthedamnbatman: no, his new 52 stories have been pretty bad a$$ ... so NO, I don't share your FEEEELINGS!
You're outta luck, nobody reads Superman. They just pretend to read it.

Greg Pak's Action Comics is actually starting to become one of DC's best series nowadays and Unchained ain't that shabby either
@squalleon: You forgot Batman/Superman
@squalleon: You forgot Batman/Superman
No, I didn't. Even though its first story was praised,the second is shallow popcorn entairtaiment.
@norrinboltagonprime21: eh, if you mean Lobdell, yes. If you mean the entire line, you are wrong, very wrong.
@imthedamnbatman: Maybe you have a very limited scope. Action Comics has been fun ever since Greg Pak to over.

Action comics, Superman unchained, Batman/Superman, Superman/Wonder Woman are all good.

*Sigh* I was being sarcastic
@imthedamnbatman: unchained is actually pretty good. and im not a big superman guy by anymeans. the big blue boy scout annoys me... unchained has great art, JIM LEE, it also hadd dustin nyguyen (think thats how you spell it) in the last issue, he did batman for a while if im not wrong... speaking of batman, the writer is scott snyder. Snyder originally wrote american vampire i think then batman and now superman unchained. change of tone ! but unchained has great writing and art, just great colors too

This. I can't believe how many people seem to forget how incredibly bad was the Superman title until the issue # 12. Maybe they have forget those stories because they were insignificant. Lobdell has actually saved this title and despite he sometimes can use an excessive dialogue and even despite his characters can sometimes suffer of a flat characterization (many of them share the same humor) he can still tell an interesting story.
However if i had to suggest some comics that can intruduce somebody to the new-52 Superman i won't esitate since there are some of them that really shine among the others:
Action Comics since issue # 25 is the PERFECT starting point.
Superman Unchained.Of course.
Batman-Superman. Both its first run and even the current one which may be a shallow popcorn entertainment...but it is a really good one.
I want to start buying Action Comics now that Greg Pak is writing it, but I don't have the monies... :(
I don't read New 52 Superman (mostly because I am not reading New 52 at all right now) but I do read lots of pre-New 52 Superman and find him to be very interesting. He is an acquired taste but I'd check out several different books because he is a hard character to write for and some writers just "get" him while others don't and that is not necessarily reflected in what gets published.
The Superman title of Scott Lobdell is terrible so I don't read it anymore. Batman/Superman is ehh...
Action Comics used to be bad. But it's been amazing since Greg Pak picked it up recently. And I'm currently Superman Unchained and Superman/WW (which I love).
