Can anyone catch me up on what the intro meant by the Symbiote being "cleansed"?

@cave_duck: i think it was something like cleansed of the evil it had become on earth and now it is in its original pure form coz the symbiotes arnt evil or something else bendis decided was gonna happen

@cave_duck: From what I recall the symbiote was insane and now its not. What that means in practice is it behaved like a parasite that feeding of the user and now its more of a team player.

Really enjoy the art, and I'm a fan of Flash. I will be picking this up.

@cave_duck: Long Story Short, Klyntar [real name of the Symbiotes Alien Race] are a good and peacefull race. They need to bond to someone of other race to form their "perfect form", some sort of Elite Warrior. So many Klyntar leave their planet to find a perfect "mate". But the distance from their home planet start to corrupt their essence, and if they find an imperfect host the corruption go wild, they start to kill and reproduce, so many planet have been conquered by horde of "mad" Klyntar. Venom was a descendent of a long line of corrupted Klyntar, but he find in Agent Thompson is perfect mate. Anyway he dosen't know/remember that till they go in space with the Guardians of the Galaxy. In space, Venom hear "the call of the Klyntar", and return with Thompson [and the others GoG] to the original Klyntar's planet, where their collective essence "clean" Venom from the corruption, and he and Flash Thompson finally create the "Perfect Venom", an Elite Klyntar Warrior [now, Venom may be more powerfull than Toxin]

So will Venom actually become a Space Knight along with Ikon and co? Or are they just using the name to keep the rights?

This is cool and all, but couldn't Secret Wars have brought back the "real" Venom somehow?

You know I hated when they changed the venom symbiote from agent to this, but I have to say, this art makes it actually look good.

I didn't know these latest Venom developments. For some reason finding out that he was always supposed to be a good guy makes me sad. :-(

Never been the biggest fan of Olivetti's art, but it's good to see Flash with his own title again. It certainly has a lot to live up to.

I sorta like the Lethal Protector thing, but truthfully he was better as just a straight up villian

Well Eddie is still a Lethal Protector, he just does it with the Toxin symbiote now. He's currently hunting down Cletus Kasaday in the Carnage ongoing.

Story is interesting, but the art... it feels weird. Not in a bad way, but I don't know. Maybe I'm not a fan of the helmet look on Venom's head.

Yeah. I just mean 90s Venom.

That first variant cover reminds me of how Venom looked in Marvel Knights Spider-Man. A good look. Sometimes in the past he has been too much of a caricature but he looks good in this. I was also never much of a fan of the tongue either (I know, sacrilege!). I think that was Eric Larsons legacy to the character wasn't it?

Looks pretty good, might have to try this out.

I agree with you. i like classic venom and was very annoyed when i get back into this hobby a year ago and found out he is no more..... eitherway i'll give this a try....

Toxin is introduced in Venom vs. Carnage, a 5 issue mini series.

@crespoh69: also there was a Toxin mini series after that which I liked but I think was generally poorly received.

Well, to be precise, Venom wasen't alwasy supposed to be a good guy :) Venom is born "corrupted", and son of a long line of corrupted Klytar [he is the 996 in from the first corrupted of his "family", if I remember correctly]. So technically he is born "evil" and now have been "converted" to good.

@thatlyn_yoaeg_ill_rymmin: that makes the pill easier to swallow. How frustrating for his line though, so close to the big 1000! :-)

Venom was the 998th Generation, so Carnage is 999th and Toxin is the Big 1000th Generation of is line :)

@damominimus: The Anti-Venom [weared by Eddie Brock] sacrifice itself durring the "Spider-Island Crisis", using all his healing power to cure the whole population of Manhattan from the Spider-mutation, but "disappearing" in the process...

Eddie Brock was recognized by all as a True Hero, and some time later was reached by Toxins

This sounded ridiculous when i read the title but after looking at the preview.... I'm somewhat tempted to buy it.
