If Rambo can figure out the mud and heat thing like Dutch did, than he should be able to take the win.

However, that requires a prior run in and more knowledge than what is provided.

With what Rambo has, he should get folded for a notable majority.

Hmmmm, I don't know...in random fight the odds favor Predator. Dutch won but he had benefit of trial and error of the other people of his crew get dealt with so he see how Predator operate, in this scenario Rambo fighting alone, not have that circumstance, so IDK, Predator superior weapons probably give it the win...

...although in this fight since Rambo got at least a little pre knowledge for the fight + Rambo one of best guerrilla warfare characters and whole thing is be survivor...if they fighted 10 rounds I think Rambo could get at least 3 wins, with max effort 4

John Rambo for sure, Rambo has excellent awareness of his surroundings, and a very good sight, Rambo is said to be able to stalk a soldier by his heartbeat and is rarely caught by surprise, not to mention he's insanely good at stealth, and is faster than any human that the Predator ever fought.

Rambo also likes to use some tatics that have proven to be effective against the Predator, like

I mean Rambo can just do what Dutch did, he is as good if not better at building traps and staying hidden, he should win the Predator gets too cocky after a while and it ends up being it's downfall.

The predator wins the majority but Rambo makes him work for it. Without a unit of other trained soldiers, the predator can take his time, weakening and tiring Rambo out. Sure, Rambo will get his shots in, but the Predator can outlast him If the fight becomes a close range bout, the predator is too big, too strong, and has armor to deal with Rambo.

The way I see it, Rambo is just a better version of Dutch, who beat the Predator and cloaked himself in Mud.

Plus the Predator from 1, was older and arrogant enough to underestimate Rambo, whereas Rambo's patience, resourcefulness, and training in forests, will ultimately win the day.

When you say "standard Predator", is this just first film predator or a composite blooded predator minus elite and unblooded versions?

Without prior knowledge, Rambo will be slaughtered.

Rambo has the skill for it, the deciding thing is his camouflage approach IMO.

If he goes for leaf covers or similar things (which is more likely due to his surroundings), the Predator could still track him.

If he starts a mud cover like in the second film, he would defeat the Predator.

He could also maybe lure him into traps, Rambo is definitely more skilled at making them

In order for Rambo to even use the 'mud' he'd have to know. OP says the only knowledge he has is he knows the Predator has active camouflage. Using it one time over 5 movies would not make it a go-to move for him. That being said Mac was able to spot him without prior knowledge so having it before-hand does give a Rambo a very good shot at winning. Also Rambos standard arsenal is his explosive bow which would definitely kill a Predator. Totally fake thing btw. If he spots it and it doesnt spot him its game over. And once again we know thats possible because Mac did it. However the thermal sight is probably the better advantage. Rambo can possibly take a hit if he's wearing a good Flack jacket but above that its one shot, one kill for the Predator while we've seen Predators take several shotgun slugs at point blank and still fight. I give Rambo 3 maybe 4 wins outta 10. Take away Predators infrared helmet and we have a real fight. Then it'd be a 50/50.

@the_wspanialy: Ok, firstly. No. Just no. Rambo is not going up against the Predator hand 2 hand and have any kind of advantage. He's gonna get curb stomped. Dutch hit the Predator with a wound up fully charged blow and it blinked at him. While ultimately winning we saw Rambo get bested albeit briefly by a random stick fighter. Predators are masters of combat and H2H and very superior in durability and strength. Rambo may, debatedley have the skill advantage but when your blows do nothing it won't matter. Putting Rambo in the same tier is absurdity.

OP says Rambo “knows he is being hunted” which implies this isn’t a close encounter. If Rambo has a little prep he will have numerous traps and is also likely to use mud camouflage not even knowing its thermal efficacy. This is just the worst possible human match up for this particular yaut ja

Here's something interesting: When Rambo 5 was being workshopped, they were thinking about using a "Predator-like" genetic monster for Rambo to face-off with.

"Standard Predator" is a vague term since there isn't really a consistent lvl for "average Predator". If we take this to mean a blooded Predator with some experience under his belt (as it was the case with the orignal Pred) Rambo gets murked as long as the Predator doesn't underestimate him in his initial approach. Knowing he is hunted and that the guy can turn invisible isn't that much of a head start as even a average Predator is very hard to put down and Rambo doesn't use heavy weaponry in "standard". The Predator have a massive gear advantage and obviously a ludicrous physical superiority.

But on the other hand Predator engaging a superhumanly skilled commando who is already aware that something is hunting him isn't a scenario he ever meet before.

Give actually a deeper knowledge about Rambo on what exactly he is dealing with and Rambo win this with not much issues. The problem here lies with Rambo surviving the first encounter in the first place and luring the Predator into a trap by understanding that mud and the sort nullify his vision.

Rambo skills> Dutch group, but Rambo doesn't have a bunch of guys to die for him in order to prepare himself.
