Diah H #1
Mateus Santolouco manages to capture the feeling all the other books of the 'Dark' have. He also adds a lot of details that make the reading of this issue much more enjoyable. I really liked some of his quirky facial expressions that he draws as well. He also draws the new heroes very well too. The story is also fairly decent. We get Nelse struggling with his weight with his best friend. We get to see him jump into action and save a few lives while endangering several others. I really like the dialog in this book. I think that it feels very real. I also really like some of the humor that is added in the background and some of the other humor that is playing straight up. It's feels dark and I think that it fits in just will with it's other members.
THE BAD:
I loved the issue, but it's very confusing when Nelse become one of the heroes. I'm not really sure how it works with him thinking and the hero talking. I also really wish we could've gotten information about what is going on with this and how. My biggest complain is still the confusing conversation between Nelse and the hero while they are the same person.
THE VERDICT: 4/5 (Great)
This series is off to a great start. While there are still flaws within these pages, you will have a lot of fun reading this issue. I think there is some humor mixed in with a very serious plot and the dialog is top notch. I think that people should check this series out if they are tired of all the Super-Hero comics and want a toned down one. I also think that many people who like the Dark series should get this because it fits right in. I recommend this.
