"Even Batman Doesn't Know Who I Am"

    Synopsis

Whilst Bruce Wayne gets down to business (both of the financial and romantic kinds), Batman finally meets the Dollmaker!

    The Good

I liked the reveal of Dollmaker and his "family", and how they squabble and argue just like a real one. :p Hopefully in upcoming issues the individual members will be looked upon (I believe there are four of them, but only two (excluding Dollmaker) have been named.) I also like how Batman didn't have a clue who this guy is, but I'm sure the end page made amends for that.

    The Bad

I found the cover to not be as interesting as the previous one - I mean that one had discarded babydoll heads on it (I suppose a trademark item of Dollmaker) but this one doesn't relate to the issue at all.

The ending, whilst another shocker might not do it for some people. After all, Batman will set things right eventually. Also Joker is nowhere to be seen this issue, but I'm sure he'll be back soon enough.

    Conclusion

If you're expecting another dose of Joker this month, don't. However do expect an other solid issue and the introduction to one of Gotham's newest and most disturbed villains. I recommend if you read #1.

The Good: Tony Daniel has definitely started doing more interesting things with this issue, an improvement over the 'safe' nature of the first issue. Tony Daniel's artwork is still dark and awesome, perfect for Batman, and he still does a GREAT job at creating a tense sense of mystery with his panel layouts. Daniel does a god job capturing the sense of how Bruce interacts with those dangerously close to him. The scene with Charlotte Rivers was horrendously awkward, in a good way. I am simply stu...

      A Well Crafted Facade 0

Much as with the first issue, this issue delivers on the same overall feel that you might expect from Detective Comics (that being more of an intellectual approach to the character) but some matters of routine also work their way in here which seemingly don't have much to do with the plot (though I might be underestimating the importance of certain events.)   In terms of these matters of routine they are handled actually pretty well, the new business contact who may be a threat to Bruce (or Batm...
