Insults my womanhood... and I'm male!
In this “sexy and daring” book, Selina Kyle talks like a caveman, there are boobs everywhere, same with panties and there’s supposed to be a story in there somewhere.
The Good:
- Art: Yet another very nice-looking issue. Even though there are fanservice-shots everywhere. There’s impressive stuff on the artistic side here and there. But for every nice panel, you get ten “Here’s a bra!”-panels. Most impressive was this one. It’s emotionally hard-hitting and not your typical “Oh my goodness”-shot, even though there aren’t that many details to it and it was probably done in a rush because there were bras that had to be drawn.
- New things: This is another very clear example of DC trying to do new things, different things. I still like the general direction of the publishing company these days.
The Bad:
- Fanservice: This book insults me as a woman… and I’m a man. Yes, it is that bad. It’s absolutely terrible and the entire story is based around Catwoman being half-naked. There’s not much point to the story, there’s not much to anything other than showing women half-dressed.
- Out of Character: Batman just goes for Catwoman like that? Really? Isn’t that a bit out of character? And by “a bit”, I mean a lot.
The Verdict:
Skip it. I have very little to say about this book. Not because I’m in a rush, but because it’s that much “nothing” in one spot. It’s an empty issue. It sets up characters nobody cares about and it’s focused solely on boobs. That’s all there is to it. I can’t say “The writing’s bad” or “The story is interesting” because there is hardly any writing or story. And the worst thing? This book could be really good. Catwoman has so much more to add to the comic book world.
