I think at this point, realistically it is just too soon to tell. Especially after Captain Atom #2, where he was casually pulling out all sorts of abilities. I'm also starting to suspect that there might be a writing change soon, also......just my guess.

    Ask again around issue 10.

I for one was never interested in the old Captain Atom. His title I've been enjoying more than a lot of others. It's in my top 10 favourite 52.

Hard to say. There have only been 2 issues.

As of right now, the original is still more powerful than this version.

I think it's apple and oranges now.
The original was a much more physical fighter.
This one seems like he is going to go in another direction by using manipulation or atoms or energy. Something like that.

The original had the same ability. He just didn't use it as often.

Anyway, we have a handle on how fast Captain Atom is now.

The first person shown to keep up with the Flash in the DCnU. In the latest issue, he's helping the Flash diffuse a war by taking care of the soldiers. Thing is, the soldiers don't realize they are there. Notice the time frame between the panels in the scan. Both the Flash and Captain Atom are keeping up with each other at 1/100 of second, while holding a conversation with each other.

@Static Shock: Those pics are so cool even if they do seem a bit insistent on the whole "show of power" front but still cool tho....i would however like to add that we did see Superman keep up and surprise Flash in JL i just think things were shown a bit different in this book regarding speed (shown from the perspective of the people using the super seed)

I hope that they don't make him a strictly energy manipulating being....I liked him being a superman level fighter from time to time.

Well, in the opening sequence of issue #1 we observe Captain Atom thinking to himself that he only needs one good punch to crack open the giant armor of the attacking villian, so strengthwise he appears to be at least a basic heavy-weight. But we still need more feats to better accurately gauge his physical abilities. I like him being in the Supeman level class as well, physically.
