Best Police Commissioner Ever? I'd Say Yes

The Good: I love the idea of The White Casebook
I really like the logo they came up with for him, it's pretty neat.
The art provides a dark atmosphere that really catches the perfect mood for a Gordon story.
The continuous conversation between Vicki Vale and Commissioner Gordon provides a really interesting look into the GCPD that we haven't really seen since Gotham Central.
The overall plot of Road Home is moved along a lot quicker, stuff is actually moving in a direction instead of just giving us tidbits each time.
It really makes you respect Commissioner Gordon as a character.
Even Vicki Vale gets some nice character development.
Bruce's analysis of Gordon is quite touching as he recounts what Gordon means to him and to Gotham.

The Bad:   You have a connecting cover image to span 8 issues and you come up with this? Each character in some fairly normal pose with a bunch of bats and some watercolor in the background? HUGE WASTE OF CONNECTING COVER IMAGE.
While the art does look great, it's REALLY dark and it makes it really hard to tell exactly what's going on most of the time.
Bruce's involvement in this was minimal, he barely existed in this. It was all about Gordon and Vale. Bruce was about as involved as he is in most Joker's Asylums, which is not much.
The plot seemed to take a huge leap between Road Home: Catwoman and this one. We find out Vale is investigating the villains, and then suddenly she's the #1 target for the underground? I feel like we missed something.

    In Conclusion: 3/5
This Road Home does so a great job of providing a deep look into it's title character, and with a character we don't get much of it for, that makes this a nice treat. And the Vicki Vale plot is moving along nicely, but the minimal use of Bruce Wayne defies the title, this would work much better as a regular one-shot or something, I dunno. Plus the art, while it really sets the mood, makes the structure of the story into a big mess because it's hard to tell what's happening. The basic structure comes easy and you can kind of see how they got from point A to point B, but a lot of the other details are incredibly foggy. I'm pretty sure I missed a lot of little touches to the plot that would improve the already best part of the issue, but the art forces you to miss them.

Review: Bruce Wayne - The Road Home: Commissioner Gordon #1 0

Now that Gotham's villains have Vicki Vale's scent, Commissioner Gordon might be the only who can protect from a hit put out by two low-level capes. The Good Kudranski's art is incredibly moody, keeping the intensity at a pitch throughout. Even though the story's told in a non-linear fashion, I also enjoyed the methodical progression of the goons' assault, Gordon's defense and Bruce Wayne's more-involved-than-expected intervention. Also, while it wasn't as probing as the Batgirl and Catwoman sp...
