The Aftershock
Just when the Birds of Prey get back together, Dinah quits....again.
Pros:
Gail Simone still bring out the humor in this series and know how to write the characters' personalities well. The Birds of Prey gang haven't always been perfect and usually the one person thats usually the voice of reason is Black Canary. So just when the gang gets back together, she quits and leaves with White Canary to Bangkok. It doesn't sit well for Huntress and Zinda, so the two decide to go to Bangkok to bring her back. This leads to quite a shock at the end. Huntress is one of the ladies that shines in this issue as we see the different sides of her whether if she's compassionate and caring or when she's stubborn and aggressive.
Once again, Oracle has another base of operations (This is what her 5th?) in dedication to for her late friend Ted Kord (Blue Beetle). Even though Oracle have forgiven Savant and Creote, the fact is that they know where the batcave is. Possible mind wipe by Zatanna?
I got to hand it to Alina Urusa. As much as I love Ed Benes previous covers, Urusa has been doing a great job with the covers and this is just her second cover. The artwork is good. There’s nothing particularly great about it as it does its job in telling the story and action.
Cons:
I felt that the Hawk and Dove pages served not much of a purpose other than that Hank is alive and well. It doesn't seem like we'll see much of these two in this arc.
I know the artists have been switching up lately from Ed Benes to Alvin Lee and Adriana Melo, and they are all great artists, but someone have to be a main artist. Minor complaint.
Overall:
Already this arc is looking promising. With the surprise at the end of this issue, its a wonder what else surprises or changes in store for the BoP.
