Batgirl Couldn't Save This Issue
The Birds Of Prey have to save the citizens of a speeding train from dying by one of the three bombs on the train.
My Thoughts:This new incarnation of the Birds Of Prey consists of an unusual lineup. Only Black Canary remains from the previous roster. The new additions include Poison Ivy, Katana, and the brand new character Starling. So far this series isn't what I would have expected it being like, but it has shown moments of potential.
We find out a little more information about this threat the Birds Of Prey have been facing. They're called the Cleaners and are lead by someone named Choke (whose appearance has yet to be revealed). The suits they where allow them to bend light, thus rendering them invisible. They don't exactly come off as the most compelling or exciting villains in a comic series. This was the fourth issue and I still feel as if I don't know enough about this threat they face. Lack of character development and slow pacing has been a little demoralizing. The bizarre cliffhanger was difficult to interpret. It's not exactly the type of cliffhanger that leaves you anticipating next months issue.
The interior artwork is again by Jesus Saiz. His style is slowly growing on me but I still feel as if it could be a little better than it is. Some panels look great like the double-paged spread of Posion Ivy stopping the train. Other pages don't exactly blow you away. It could be considered satisfactory at best often times. I did love the cover by David Finch.
I was expecting a little more from this issue since Batgirl was going to be joining the team. I'm still going to continue following the series. There's definitely potential. The slow pace has somewhat killed any excitement I once had. At this point, I just want to get this first story arc over with so they can move on to better things.
