THE WALL IS ALIVE AND WELL

It's better than the Green Lantern banner because I get the point of this one. It's not hyping a movie that didn't need extra hype, and its for a good cause. But it doesn't change the fact that the "We Can Be Heroes" banner is a huge detriment to the covers its on. The blue here really contrasts with the explosion in a bad way. Otherwise the cover is REALLY nice. The design is fairly standard, but the blurring effect here is PHENOMENAL, and the logo looks even more incredible in its simplicity. Not to mention the way "Featuring Batman and the Justice League" is scattered amongst the debris is a nice final touch.

    BATMAN BEYOND #2

Mad Stan is alive! It's actually really interesting to see Hush was lying about one of the villains he 'killed.' It gives you hope for some of the others, and really drives some great dialogue from Mad Stand. I mean he's.... MAD! I was never that interested in him in the animated series, but here his dialogue seems totally nuts and fun. Of all the villain's Hush killed to bring back, Mad Stan was actually the best choice, because his reaction to the news is hilarious.

Norm Breyfogle's art still isn't my favorite (For Batman Beyond specifically), but his gentler colors seem to have been toned down a bit, or maybe the lack of a wide variety of Jokerz meant there weren't crazy colors to be highlighted. Either way, the artwork wasn't quite as awkward as it was last issue, but I'd still trade Breyfogle for someone else in a heartbeat. Again, no offense to the guy. We can put him on Detective Comics or TDK or something. He's a legendary Batman artist, sure, but he's not really a good fit for Batman Beyond.

Now that we know the truth about Doug, which was a LITTLE underwhelming, he's actually becoming a more interesting character, Last issue he mentioned his sister being possible trouble, but this issue has him showing compassion for her where he shows very little to his father. He also shows himself to be a VERY capable martial artist in my favorite action scene of the issue.

The rest of the action is still a little bland, but it does mix up the visual angles a bit more than the last issue. Some of the scenes have no flow to them, but the explosions and such have some nice energy.

The story for this arc is one of those amusing misunderstanding kind of side stories that can go pretty badly, but are excellent if done right. This one definitely seems to be leaning towards the latter, and it adds some nice life and variety to the series.

Also, Bruce's attempts to reclaim his parent's legacy lead to some extremely interesting widening of the Batman Beyond status quo. Some old characters make some very non-forced appearances here. If there's one thing Batman Beyond has done better as part of 'Unlimited,' it's really expand the Beyond Mythos.

    In Conclusion: 3.5/5

The story was a little less compelling, the artwork was a little better, it was still lots of fun. Essentially just as good as the first issue

    JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND #2

Ok, let me say what I didn't like first. Batman got a little too much focus considering he already has a solo title. I'd like to see more balance. And we saw Bruce in a scene with the Robo-Bats in the Batcave that pretty much was exactly the same as the one last issue. "What's the Bruce? You're about to use your robots? Didn't you foreshadow that last issue?"

As for the good stuff.... I'm going to just give you a list of things this issue has, and you'll understand.

DUSTIN NGUYEN'S ARTWORK. One of the best artists, and the PERFECT 'Batman Beyond' artist.

    DINOSAUR ISLAND.

    CADMUS.

    KOBRA.

    Awesome Action.

    THE REAL AMANDA WALLER.

That's right, Batman Beyond has COMPLETELY been untouched by the New 52. AMANDA WALLER IS STILL THE WALL IN THE BEYOND-VERSE.

    In Conclusion: 4.5/5

AMANDA. WALLER. IS STILL. THE WALL. With that and Dustin Nguyen, do you REALLY need to know more?

    FINAL SCORE 4/5

THE WALL. Batman Beyond Unlimited has THE WALL. Suicide Squad has 'Amanda Er,' but Batman Beyond Unlimited still has The Wall. Both series expand the mythos amazingly. Batman Beyond has decent art, Justice League Beyond has incredible art. This is two comics for the price of 1.3 comics. If you like Batman Beyond, you shan't be disappointed.
