Review
The creative team for Batman was given a lot of pages to work on for Joker's return and they didn't disappoint. The cover for this issue is not only beautiful, but it's very symbolic as to how Batman and Joker might be similar on the inside.
Snyder doesn't need to prove how good of a writer he is with how well his run for the Court of Owls was, but he didn't pull any punches to give justice to Joker's return. He set such a dark and eerie tone in this issue that usually is present when Joker is around which gave the Clown Prince more life, which even pulled up to a higher level by his art team. The appearance of the other Bat family members was short, but not only does it hint how big this storyline really is, but their appearance alone will excite a lot of readers. The layout was simple and clean to let the story unfold, and the slow pace of the story let every emotion this issue carries sink in to it's readers. The art for the settings and objects were brilliant but it's very chilling how Capullo's pencils manifested Joker's insanity. The extra short story in the end by Snyder, Tynion IV and Jock was a great addition to this issue as it further introduces us to Joker's vile nature.
This storyline just started but it will only get better from here. A shocking cliff hanger will knock you off your seats and would make you anxious for the next issue. This comic is definitely the pick of the week. 5/5 stars.
