Alpha Flight One-Shot in November

The team may be dead, but that doesn't stop them from coming back to appear in a book.

Nothing in comics is dead forever, and that's usually the case, but for right now Alpha Flight is. There's been a little bit of speculation that the team will be rising from the dead and have their own series, but that is certainly not the case.

In an interview with ComicBookResources, Vice President Executive Editor Tom Brevoort shattered all the hope that Alpha Flights fans carry deep in their hearts and put speculation to rest. "Alpha Flight is dead. Dead, dead, dead. I killed them. (Well, Bendis and I.) They are demised, dead, finished, decomposing, dead. They're hanging out with Nightcrawler." The good news for Alpha Flight fans is that during the Canadian Fan Expo on August 28th & 29th, you'll be able to purchase an exclusive variant cover to Avengers #4 featuring the members of the dead-as-a-doornail Alpha Flight which was illustrated by Phil Jimenez.

Alpha Flight may be dead, but that doesn't mean they can't have their own one-shot, does it? Newsarama recently reported the team will appear in Chaos War: Alpha Flight (pictured above), part of the Dead Avengers mini-series. Jim McGann, writer of this series is reviving the team along with artist Reilly Brown. But before you get too excited, Puck will not be in it. The book will come out in November. The team has a big cult following and the fans clamor for more. I guess a variant cover wasn't enough.

Alpha Flight are two words that bring shivers to the very core of my being. As many of you know, Alpha Flight died during an arc of New Avengers, leaving only Sasquatch to survive. I guess being that I'm half Canadian, I'm supposed to have some sort of soft spot in my heart for this team of Canucks. Maybe, buried deep down inside there is, especially for Puck, but for the most part, I never liked them. I never understood why so many people liked the team, but at the same time, I never read too much of it. Maybe it's time to go back and read the Bryne run I guess, or maybe I should call Red L.A.M.P. and talk to him about it since he loves them so much. What do you guys think? Any Alpha Flight fans? Is this too much Alpha Flight news for you?
