There will be spoilers in this one for not only this issue but for Forever Evil as well. I'm reading all the Villain month books for the new reader perspective. I've got a good grip on Manta and I know his current status but that's about it.

    The Good:

Manta's motivations are spelled out pretty well and made very clear. He's defined by vengeance and this issue really stressed that. His reaction to Aquaman's death was pretty well done, even if he didn't do that deed himself and I liked the way that Ultraman's actions lead directly to Manta finding himself a new target to hate. It's pretty nice from a tie in perspective and it has a lot of hints of things we've seen in other villain month issues.

    The Bad:

This issue is pretty dull and we don't see Manta fighting with his gear at all which will no doubt annoy some Manta fans. Really it feels like a whole lot of nothing goes down here besides the Forever Evil stuff that most readers have probably already seen.

    Overall:
This was a decent issue, it's nice seeing a tie in that really feels like it's effected by the main plot of Forever Evil. If you're an Aquaman fan you might enjoy this one was far as understanding Manta better goes.

      Disappointing 0

I was extremely unimpressed with this issue, which is a real shame because it started out with so much promise. The book starts off with Belle Reve Supermax Penitentiary being invaded by the Crime Syndicate. Just as Black Manta is being offered a new “purpose” from Amanda Waller, all of the prisoners are set free and told “the world is yours.”There’s a beautiful moment here where Black Manta goes to get his gear from the Personal Effects storage room and Ocean Master has arrived at the same tim...
