    Rotworld begins!

This will be in my new style that I am using I have decided to make this my normal way of reviewing from now on.

I picked this up a while a go along with Swamp-thing 12 to see the beginning of the Rotworld arc I had heard the series were good so I decided to pick both of them up. I will only be buying Swamp-thing after this because of money restraints.

    Plot

This issue starts off with Buddy looking after his recently rot attacked son who is in a coma he gets into an argument with his Wife's mother and then they go off to find Swamp-thing. They eventually find him and they eventually get into a lecture about what's happened to them while this is happening Cliff has escaped. In the end Swamp-thing and Animal-man enter the Rot. After they have entered Rot creatures escape the Rot and try to Kill Abby, Maxine and Ellen.

Now the cover this is a connecting cover with Swamp-thing 12 and I really like it the animal spirits look pretty good making them look and the breaks between the Swamp-thing and Animal-man looks pretty good my only gripe is that everyone face apart from Animal-man's face looks weird.

Now what I thought was nice was they gave a run down as to what happened to Animal-man and his family because I'm a new reader and the reason it was asked actually made sense some people might think it was a waste of pages but I liked it a lot. The pages themselves are nicely composed and the shadows really help the rot creatures look even creepier.

Now one of the pages I was really impressed with was a page when Buddy uses his power to find Swamp-thing he goes through several animals when he eventually finds a plant in a bird and from that he finds Swamp-thing the page is nicely laid out and the detail is really nice.

There's also a nice page where their dropping hints as to what will happen in the Rotworld crossover the page is nicely composed with nice panel borders and the dead hero is nicely drawn.

The meeting between Swamp-thing and Animal-man has it's problems it feels like Animal-man just tells everything to Swamp-thing even though I liked the little recap but they don't even no each other yes they no they have to defeat the rot together but it just feels like some people who have met before.

When they enter the rot there's a page were they are falling through to the rot that is taken from the perspective of Buddy and is quite nice and expresses his feelings well.

When they actually get into the rot the page is the best of the book everything in it looks incredibly creepy and the whole layout of it is really nice.

The art is good but it has it's problem the shadows really help to make the rot creatures look even creepier and the page layouts are nice but some of the faces look a little weird.

    Verdict

This is a decent issue and a good start to the rotworld story it does have it's problems but the Rotworld crossover does look pretty good and I hope it does well.

    4.5 stars.

The conjoined Animal Man/Swamp Thing Rotworld Prologue cover is absolutely BRILLIANT. Never before have I seen a connected cover like this done by more than one artist, and it still looks so gorgeous, while each half remains perfectly distinct and a fine cover on its own. The Red, The Rot, and The Green are all preparing for a war, and this cover is a perfect representation of the forces rallying.Despite an abundance of exposition, almost certainly included for the benefit of readers of Swamp Th...

THE GOOD: I'm very glad that we have one artist on this book now. I really like Steve Pugh's artwork. It still has a similarity to the beginning of the series where Travel Foreman was on the book but gives it his own take. I really like the character expressions as well as the action that is in this book. I am in love with these characters. In this issue we get to see the crossover that we have been waiting for. We see Animal Man track down Swamp Thing and it just creates a fun filled read. I re...
