An American Superhero in Paris
Perhaps my favorite non-romantic comic book relationship is that of Superman and Batman. To see that relationship eloquently translated to younger incarnations, Tim Drake and Superboy, is amazing. While I previously commented that the first two issues of Adventure Comics had a nice sense of innocence harkening back to the old days of the Adventure Comics title, this particular issue is different. Both Tim and Conner are dealing with quite a bit. Their respective spheres of existence have been shaken pretty badly, Conner by the adjustments of new life and Tim with his quest to find out the whereabouts about Bruce. The bond the two share is important and I'm glad that Tim and Cassie's minor indiscretion was brushed aside as almost a non-issue because something like that should not damage the relationship. This is a brilliantly executed book. The Legion backup was even better this time around. I really enjoyed Polar Boy giving us insight into the psyche of someone formerly rejected by the Legion. Often Substitute Heroes and other Legion rejects are jokes, but this was an interesting perspective on what could have been a disposable story.
