    The New Cyborg

SPOILERS and all that. So I'm reading all the Villain Month books to give the new reader perspective and now it's time to checkout Cyborg Superman. I know a little about the Pre-Flashpoint version so let's see if this new version matches up.

    The Good:

The art for this one is honestly my favorite part. The way the cyborg bits are drawn on Cyborg Superman and really the general detailing on the tech is really nice. The designs are also pretty cool on this one. We get a good idea on what influences Cyborg Superman to act how he does, at least for now.

    The Bad:

I really don't like the revamped origin on Cyborg Superman here, while some would argue that Hank's origins weren't the most unique there was a still a lot more going on with him as a character. I honestly am not a fan of when Superman foes are traced back to Krypton as their origin and honestly while this connection isn't really that bad I can't help but feel it doesn't really add anything to make up for what is taken away. Maybe Cyborg Superman has more going for him in the Supergirl books but here he's pretty bland and his motive is very simple. There's a lot of cliched moments of villainy that feel like random intergalactic dog kicking given the pointless malice behind them.

    Overall:

I really just didn't enjoy this one, the origin wasn't all that interesting for me and the motivations behind the character just felt bland. Maybe if you're a fan of the current Supergirl title or interested in the new Cyborg Superman you'll enjoy this one more.

Another great issue from Michael Alan Nelson with a great origin story for Cyborg-Superman 0

This review originally went up on my blog here.As I mentioned in my review of Supergirl #21-23 a week back, I had a lot of fun getting back into the title with the creative change of writer Michael Alan Nelson and artist Diogenes Neves. Up until then (actually till about #19), the series had been plodding along, going from one boring story arc to another, and I had lost faith in the title almost completely. So much so in fact that I had taken a 10-month break in between. With Michael and Diogenes...
