Ultimate Extinction, by Warren Ellis and Brandon Peterson, was the final chapter in the Ultimate Galactus Trilogy. Like previous chapters of the trilogy, it adopted its own storytelling tone., which was much like a science fiction disaster movie with Gah Lak Tus as the impending global disaster.
This limited series featured the debuts of the Ultimate versions of Misty Knight, Silver Surfer, Moondragon and finally Galactus.
Plot Summary
With the Gah Lak Tus entity nearing Earth, Nick Fury assembles Captain Marvel, the Ultimates, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men to work on plans to avert the apocalypse. Silver Surfers, heralds of Gah Lak Tus, are discovered already on Earth preparing the population for destruction and are engaged by the heroes. Professor Xavier readies a relay on the Triskelion to make telepathic contact with Gah Lak Tus, while Mr. Fantastic constructs an interdimensional cannon in the Nevada desert. When the time comes, the heroes of Earth manage to hurt Gah Lak Tus just enough to drive it away from Earth.
