    Origin of the Inhumans!

Thor, stripped of most of his power, is a pawn of the Circus of Crime. How did he get in this mess? Just like the Avengers back in Avengers #22, he was forced to get a ‘normal’ job. Whatever the case, it’s all pretty average, except the art which is definitely a cut above average.

But the real excitement here is the backup story. “The Origin of… the Incomparable Inhumans!” has no separate writing and art credits. It is co-credited to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby – in other words, this is Jack Kirby’s pet project with Stan Lee’s name slapped on it so he can maintain creative rights.

Always one with a flair for the truly epic, Kirby’s Inhumans origin story is one of the most innovative things going on in the superhero genre at that time, so the backup story alone makes this issue worth searching out.
