The destruction of Spider-Island, and the hunt for Spider-Man's loved ones!

My review for, Superior Spider-Man #27. Spider-island is destroyed, no thanks to the Green Goblin and his army. But they aren't stopping there, as the Green Goblin is now hunting down Spider-Man's loved ones!

    The Good

    Choices, choices, choices.
    Choices, choices, choices.

In this issue, Spider-Island's destruction and Green Goblin's hunt for Spider-Man's loved ones! Goblin Nationheats up in this issue, as writer Dan Slott delivers a great issue that raises the stakes for Spock and his hero game! Right now, this is a wonderful time to be both a Spock supporter, and a Spock hater. As Dan Slott really makes sure that Spock goes out with a bang [for those supporters]; and that Parker's return is 100% justified [for the Spock haters]. And what better time for Parker's return than a battle with one of his greatest adversaries, The Green Goblin!

I really enjoyed what Dan Slott did in this issue. He built on the momentum that he had created with issue 27, and upped the stakes for Spock and his hero game! I absolutely enjoyed how Green Goblin was more superior, in being tech savvy, than Ock. (And how he touched on this in the issue.) Also, though Dan Slott's story for Parker [slowly] making claim to his mind and body came at some of the worse times in this issue (more on that later), nonetheless it did have some similarities to Spock's inability to stop the Green Goblin and his forces. If anything with this issue, and story arc, it has shown that the Green Goblin has been one step ahead of Spock for a very long time, and to this very issue, he's still ahead! I like seeing elements like that still carry weight, even when the story arc, or the big reveal, is known to the reader. So that was masterfully handled by writer Dan Slott; as he still surprises me at, "What?", exactly Green Goblin will do next! I am excited to see what Dan Slott will make Green Goblin do, with Spider-Man's loved ones!

    The Bad

Thanks Parker for interrupting a lot of intense scenes in this comic!
Thanks Parker for interrupting a lot of intense scenes in this comic!

The problem I had with this issue was, Peter Parker's comeback interrupting some of THE most intense scenes of this issue! While I enjoyed seeing Parker, slowly, make a comeback in reclaiming his mind and body; Dan Slott's timing, for those scenes, were really horrible. A good example is when Green Goblin ordered his Goblins to hunt down Spider-Man's loved ones. You would get to see the Goblins go after Spider-Man's loved ones, but then it would cut to Parker trying to regain control of his body, then place the reader at a different point in time that would make you feel like you missed out on something. I'm sure on paper these scenes made sense, however, when finally executed, the scenes for the story feel like a cut-and-paste that was done blindfolded.

    The Verdict

    4 out of 5. Next review, Superior Spider-man #29.
