The Wives of Wellspring are a sect of Force-users who separated from the Jedi whose process of morality and directive action they found to be too corruptive. They call themselves the Wives as they consider their only partner to be the Force, their passion devoted to it entirely in intimate worship. They live in a hidden oasis within the desert called the Wellspring. One of Wives must be in meditation at all times to maintain the protective illusion.

Though they live in community, they speak infrequently, living in separate areas throughout the Wellspring. Individuals do not have names so as not to differentiate themselves from each other. Those who are not Force-sensitive and men in general are not allowed to live within the Wellspring as the Wives deem them to be a corruptive influence. They do not use crafted weapons or tools, relying instead on Force constructs of will to serve their needs, the idea being their tools arise only in times of need instead of prompting a desire for their use. Due to their ascetic meditation techniques and Force abilities, they are able to withstand personal discomfort and extreme weather conditions the hostile environment surrounding their oasis.

During the Ritual of Force Sight, two or more of the wives gather together and consume a concoction derived from a sacred flower with unique, iridescent petals. The Prismatic Orchid is only known to have been found in the Wellspring, the plant growing from an infusion of Force energy within the place nourished by the graves of the wives who have passed on. The orchid brew grants a varied experienced according to the user, usually in the forms of visions whether they be past, present, or future.
