Darth Maleval only appears in one comic in all of Sta Wars, but in that he demonstrates that he's a ruthless killing machine and is everything the Sith embody. He prefers to use a shock whip because he can torture and inflict more pain on his enemies than he could with his lightsaber and is trusted by Darth Krayt himself to spread terror among the One Sith's enemies. Not to mention that he's one of the only Quarren Sith Lords out there.

Telekinesis

Telekinesis is a common Force ability that affords the user the ability to alter and distort the environment and reality around them.

Although skilled with a lightsaber, Maleval's weapon of choice is actually a shock whip:

Darth Maleval is skilled with a lightsaber, but his weapon of choice is the shock whip. Darth Maleval prefers the shock whip because it is more painful but less lethal, and can be used to torment his captives for long stretches of time before disposing of them.

A nasty weapon deemed by many to be unnecessarily painful, the shock whip has been used by warriors throughout the galaxy for generations. Fast and cruel, the shock whip is the chosen weapon of the Mistryl Shadow Guards and is also used by the Sith Lord Darth Maleval. A shock whip consists of a metal grip from which extend long, thick wires woven together into a single strand. The metal grip houses a power cell that can send a surge of energy through the shock whip's cord, issuing an electric shock to the target.

Maleval is normally assigned to missions regarding insurgents or rebels by Darth Krayt in order to spread terror to the Empire's enemies:

Darth Krayt assigns Darth Maleval to missions targeting insurgents or rebels, using the Quarren Sith Lord to spread terror among the enemies of the Empire. Darth Maleval's targets are put on display to the galaxy as a means of pointing out what happens to those who oppose the Sith rule.
