Respect Saba Sebatyne:

"Hunt the moment…"

Force Valor/Protection/Speed

Force Valor is a light-sided power enabling a Jedi to enhance one's resolve and physical traits, such as strength, durability and speed. Force Protection is the passive (and sometimes active) enhancement of a Force sensitive's durability to varying superhuman degrees. Force Speed is the passive (and sometimes active) enhancement of a Force sensitive's speed to varying superhuman degrees.

Saba uses her powers to restore energy and remove tiredness and confusion:

The Force came to her bidding with familiar ease, flooding her with energy that swept the tiredness and confusion away.

Saba easily reacts to a miniature lightning bolt and deflects it on her lightsaber:

Before she had time to wonder at its purpose, a miniature bolt of lightning arced toward her.

It grounded safely in her lightsaber, which she'd swung to intercept it with liquid ease.

Saba moves at speeds only a reptile could perceive, thereby moving faster than human perceptions:

Saba was deep below the Taat nest, creeping down a crevice at a speed only a reptile would recognize as motion, her darting tongue stinging with the acrid odor of Jwlio's fractured bedrock, her mouth filled with the bitter taste of Jaina's insubordination.

Saba unleashes a pair of blows that opens a Sith's face from his temple to his jaw, and slices one of eyes apart:

At the top of the arc, Saba released her lightsaber and raked her claws down in a vicious one-two slash, the first strike opening her prey's face from temple to jaw, the second strike slicing an eye apart.

Saba is still able to fight after she is forced to endure Welk's Force Lightning, a lightsaber burn across her head, and then a rock slammed into her head wound via telekinesis:

This time, the shadow man gave her no time to recover. A fork of blue lightning crackled from his hand and caught Saba square in the chest. Every nerve in her body became a conduit of blazing agony, and she dropped her to her knees, teeth gnashing, scales dancing, muscles clenching-paralyzed.

...

His lightsaber scraped along Saba's skull, flooding her mind with a pain so hot and blinding that she could not tell whether the Force lightning had stopped.

...

The rock slammed into her head wound, and then she was kneeling on the floor, her lightsaber in a high guard, with no recollection of how she had landed there. Her sight was worse than ever, narrowed to a tiny circle, and her senses of smell and taste had gone the way of her hearing.

Saba resists a miniature explosion with only a loss of two fingertips, bedazzled eyes, and scorched scales:

The discharge that followed was not quite an explosion. She lost only two fingertips instead of an entire hand. The fireball did little more than scorch her scales and bedazzle her eyes, but... exploding Killiks?

Leia recounts that Saba has overpowered her in sparring practice in the past:

The Princess had never met a shenhit, but Saba usually uttered the saying in sparring practice, right before she drove her student into the deck with a flurry of power strikes.

Saba deflects full-autofire streams of blaster cannon fire:

Saba, her sword work brilliant, was parrying full-autofire streams of blaster cannon fire.

Saba reacts to and deflects a lightning-like attack, then ducks and rolls to avoid two more energy attacks before stabbing her blade precisely, exercising superhuman strength:

Saba pressed forward, able to push her way up the stream of fire from her droid. Her target raised its other arm, an arc of what looked like lightning flashing toward her, but she caught that on her lightsaber as well-then ducked and rolled under both energy attacks, rising just beyond the droid, her lightsaber blade extended backward and up-into the droid's neck and head. The laminanium armor there did not yield easily, but the precision of her blow and the greater-than-human strength she could put behind it drove the point of her blade through what would, in a human, have been thoracic vertebrae, severing its head.

Nor did she stop there, but spun, driving her point down from a high stance into the newly created gap in the droid's neck.

Saba kicks a droid down:

But Luke and Saba lashed out, each kicking a different direction, and the two droids, still firing, toppled over backward into the pits where their comrades had been.

Her leap toward safety was almost instantaneous, but almost wasn't good enough.

Demonstrating "impossible" levels of durability, Saba is still standing and manages to deflect an entire wave of blaster bolts even after she is struck by a point-blank explosion:

The detonators went off. The blast caught Sebatyne when she was only a meter or two in the air. It propelled her like an old-fashioned munition to the port-side wall, slamming her into that surface five meters above the floor, and she slid, flaming, down into the pit.

...

Impossibly, Saba stood, even got her lightsaber up to deflect the next wave of blaster bolts aimed at her. Smoke rose from her back and legs, and stretches of her skin were charred, bleeding. ... but she was upright, standing on shaky legs.

Saba is faster than Ben Skywalker:

Ben began to turn, crouching to leap, knowing he might not get far enough in time. He'd seen high-yield grenades before, and many had a blast radius sufficient to reach him in midleap.

He was fast, but not as fast as Saba Sebatyne.

Saba's durability is shown when she is able to still display telekinetic feats and fight Kenth Hamner after she is stabbed in the abdomen by his lightsaber:

And that was when Saba smelled something acrid and familiar. She glanced down to find the emitter nozzle of Hamner's lightsaber pressed to her abdomen just below her rib cage, his thumb still on the activation switch and a gray column of vaporized kerasin rising between their bodies.

Saba forms a whirling shield out of her lightsaber:

Saba advanced behind a whirling shield of blocks and slashes, cutting through a shadowy arm here, a leg there, even a neck or body.

Source: Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse

She resists an Abeloth-controlled ghoul plunging its hands into her thigh, causing intense pain. Despite this, she continues to fight later on without any real impairment:

It came diving in at her, sinking two shadowy hands into her thigh. Saba's entire leg went numb, then erupted in icy anguish as the thing's shadowy claws began to slide through her muscle.

Source: Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse

Even after being injured Saba displays incredible physical fortitude, being able to resist a weakened Abeloth's strikes and strike back, killing her. A list of her feats:

  • She resists Abeloth's tentacles crawling all over her face and trying to get into every single hole in her body.
  • She knocks Abeloth's teeth out, despite them being powerful enough to shred blast armor (which can resist blast, sonic, heat, cold and electric energy attacks as well as physical, kinetic ones), within a mouth large enough to bite through a rancor's neck.
  • She resists Abeloth biting into her arms and breaking them, then uses her broken arms to jerk Abeloth's neck down. She then bites through her neck - flesh, sinew and bone - and decapitates her in this fashion, sending her head flying.

They were still two meters apart when the first tentacle touched Saba's face, then her entire head was webbed in tentacles. They were trying to push in everywhere, into her nostrils and eyes and her mouth, tapping against the tympanic membranes that covered her ear canals, even trying to slip up beneath her scales.

...

Even with no arms left to fight with, Abeloth remained determined to take Saba's body. Her huge mouth gaped open, revealing two rows of fangs - fangs sharp enough to shred blast armor, set in jaws wide enough to bite through a rancor neck.

That was no way to fight a Barabel.

Saba brought both fists up together, jamming them into Abeloth's mouth in a Force-enhanced double punch. The blow knocked a ten-centimeter hole through both sets of fangs, and when Abeloth bit down there was nothing but toothless gum clamping Saba's scaly forearms.

Still, the pain was excruciating, and Saba came close to stopping before she felt her forearms snapping. Hissing in pain, she balled her fists anyway, locking her talons deep into the back of Abeloth's throat. In one smooth jerk, she pulled her prey's head down sideways and exposed the neck.

Then Saba sank her fangs in deep. They sliced through skin and gristle and just kept sinking, cutting through muscle and bone and spinal cord. Abeloth's body went limp with shock. Saba used her broken arms to jerk the head down farther, exposing even more neck. She ripped flesh. She gnashed sinew. She crushed vertebrae. She whipped her muzzle back and forth, and she felt the prey's head pop loose.

Only then did Abeloth's jaws open and release Saba's broken arms. She let her hands open, and her claws slipped free. The head went flying across the balcony and landed at the feet of Tahiri and the two Void Jumpers. All three stared at the gruesome thing in open shock, until Tahiri finally seemed to recover her wits and look toward Saba.

Force Jump

Force Jump or Leap is the usage of the Force to augment one's jumping ability.

Saba leaps six meters effortlessly:

She turned and sprang onto the balcony's safety rail, then Force-sprang onto the broken catwalk six meters above.

...

The jump would have been easy for any angry Barabel, and for a Barabel with the Force it was little more than a step.

Force Sense

Force Sense is a basic power allowing Force sensitives to sense their surroundings, feel determine the thoughts or feelings of others, feel ripples in the Force signifying important events of the presence of the dark side, or even the future. Sensing was one of Saba's stronger areas, because it was aided by the attributes of a Barabel.

Saba senses a powerful disturbance in the Force nearby, and feels that Luke, Mara, Jacen, Tekli and Danni all share her excitement:

And with it, too, came the knowledge that what she was feeling was coming through the Force itself, as though something very large and powerful had been disturbed nearby.

Through the discomfort of such intense feelings, she felt the first glimmerings of excitement. It could be only one thing!

Saba hurried forward through the ship. She could tell that the others gathered there shared her excitement. Master Skywalker, Mara, Jacen, Tekli, Danni-they could all feel it! On a ship full of Force-sensitives, it was impossible to hide something as powerful as this.

Saba senses that Zonama Sekot is crying out and feeling distressed:

"Jacen iz right," she said, the words emerging in a rough approximation of Basic from her stress-tightened throat. "Zonama Sekot criez out in the void."

The Jedi Master faced her. "But why?"

"It feelz... distressed." The pained looks on the faces before her showed that they felt it, too. It was impossible to keep out.

Saba senses life above, below and around the Jedi:

"Saba?" Mara said. "What is it?"

The Barabel shook her head uncertainly. "This one feels Sekot not just on the surface of this world, but beneath it, too. "

"I've been wondering about that also, " Jacen said. "I'm sensing life below us as well as around and above us. "

Saba smells the signs of a thunderstorm several minutes before hearing it:

Saba smelled the thunderstorm long before she heard it. Her sensitive nostrils twitched at the moisture on the air, filtered through the tampasi and redolent with spores and sap. Within minutes she could hear rain sweeping across the treetops, driven at a sharp angle by powerful, gusting winds. Before long she could hear the sound of the water escaping the boras leaves high above and trickling down in streams to the ground.

Saba senses faint tendrils of life:

Rain crackled gently on the roof of the mushroomlike habitat, although inside was warm and dry. Saba could feel faint tendrils of life trickling through its capillaries. It seemed to like the rain, and much of the warmth was generated as a result of the pleasure it felt.

Saba senses something is wrong, and mixed life signals of airships and nearby Ferroans. She also senses the death of the habitat's life force:

Her scales stiffened again, this time in apprehension. Something was wrong. She reached out around her with the Force, trying to isolate the unease she was feeling. She could sense her fellow Jedi Knights, could feel the mixed life signals of the airships and various Ferroans nearby, could feel-She stopped, realizing what it was that troubled her - something so subtle that a human might have missed it. It wasn't what was there, but rather what wasn't. There was no longer the faint touch of the habitat's life force; it was dead.

Saba senses Corran Horn's attention on her:

Saba felt the weight of someone's attention and turned to find Corran Horn's green eyes fixed on her back. Saba senses a disturbance, which was the presence of a GAG squad on the upper level of the Jedi Temple:

Saba flicked her tongue between her lips, trying to figure out why they would be waiting on her. "This one?"

"That's right, "Corran said. He cast a glance over her shoulder toward Ben and Master Skywalker, then lowered his voice to a barely audible whisper. "You felt that disturbance on the upper access level a few moments ago?"

"Yes, "Saba replied. "What was it? A newz crew trying to sneak holoz of the funeral?"

"Not exactly, "Kyp said, also speaking softly. "It was a GAG squad."

Saba's jaw fell. "A GAG squad? Inside the Temple?"

"I'm afraid so, "Kenth replied. "They tried to arrest the Solos."

Saba thumped her tail against the slatstones, pondering, then finally shook her head in bewilderment.

Darth Caedus fears that Saba is able to see through his "public face" and into his real character:

As Jacen fought to control his emotions, Luke turned toward the lectern where Saba Sebatyne stood watching them, studying Jacen but looking somewhere beyond him-or perhaps it was deeper into him, as though she were seeing not Jacen's public face, but his inner one, that of Darth Caedus.

"Saba?" Luke called softly.

There was a new vitality to his voice, a note of renewed confidence that Jacen might have found alarming, but which Caedus knew would last only as long as their "reconciliation."

"Saaaba?"

Saba's gaze finally swung back to Luke. "Yes?"

Saba senses Ben Skywalker's sudden return to the Force, and the fact that he is with Jacen:

Jacen laid his hand on Ben's shoulder again, and the Force came flooding back in a shocking, painful torrent. He sensed a dozen things at once-his aunt Leia searching for him in the Force, filled with pain and shock and sympathy; his cousin Jaina, down on Kashyyyk, full of sorrow and apology and-now that she sensed him aboard the Anakin Solo-confusion; Saba Sebatyne and the other Masters relieved by his sudden return to the Force. And they were all reeling, bewildered and concerned because he was aboard Jacen's ship.

Jacen and Saba exercise tremendous Force power to prevent an airship from being blown by the howling wind:

Through the Force, he could feel Mara and Corran join him, and he could also feel the tremendous power Jacen and Saba were exercising to prevent the airship from being blown where the howling wind wanted to take it. Confidence surged through him. The Jedi were working not against the natural forces, but in harmony with them, availing themselves of just those gusts that would maneuver the airship to the destination they had chosen. Had there been better forewarning of the trap the three Yuuzhan Vong agents had sprung, Sekot also might have been able to maneuver Zonama through hyperspace to a safe landing. But the jump to lightspeed had been inadvertent-though fortunately in place of the planned destruction of the planet.

Saba and Luke push away parts of a falling wall:

A deafening crackle echoed through spire tops, then chunks of mosaic-covered wall began to rain down on both sides of the boulevard. Force Healing is a light-sided Force technique that can heal wounds and ease pains.

Saba enters a Healing Trance to prevent her wounds from proving fatal:

"I don't know." Leia checked the monitors and found a single spike on the cardio-line. There was a barely discernible upward slope on the respiratory chart. "I think it's just a healing trance."

"Well, she looks like she's dying," Alema said.

Saba's tongue shot out and snapped the air, drawing a surprised gasp from both Leia and Alema, then returned to its place between her teeth. The Barabel's eyes remained fixed and glazed. "Healing trance," Leia concluded.

Force Meld

Force Meld, or Jedi Meld or Battle Meld, is a powerful Jedi technique where Jedi can join their minds together. In Outbound Flight, it is revealed that a Jedi Master of great power and depth in the Force is required to successfully utilize it. Despite this, Saba was able to utilize it as well as any Jedi Master.

Saba starts a Force Meld:

Danni had had only limited experience with the Jedi practice of mind-melding, but she nodded along with the others. Saba began the familiar exercises with a series of deep breaths. She felt the life-sparks of those around her, glowing like embers in a white-hot furnace. The strength of the signal was such that it almost totally blanketed them. But she concentrated, bringing them steadily into focus, and slowly their thoughts joined in a tight embrace.

Mara's mind danced with hyperspace coordinates, instrument panels, and other space flight paraphernalia. Saba added her perceptions of the distant world-mind to the mix of thoughts and impressions gathering around Mara. Danni offered the clearest knowledge of astronomical forces. Saba imagined herself on the dark, red-lit world of Barab I, prowling low for shenbit bonecrushers, every sense keen. Zonama Sekot wasn't the same thing as a flesh-rending giant lizard, but the principle was the same. They were hunting, and she was a good hunter...

Lightsaber Skill

Saba fights evenly with Welk, both severely injuring one another. What is worth noting, however, is that the damage Welk inflicted was virtually entirely via power, or having additional minions backstab Saba, whereas Saba inflicted damage via her own skill and physical ability, indicating that she is in fact the more skilful opponent:

The bitterness in the air grew stronger. The scales between Saba's shoulder blades rose in excitement, and she swept her tail around in a swift arc that ended in a knee-crunching impact. Her prey landed with the crisp slap of a practiced warrior, winning Saba's instant respect by not crying out in either pain or surprise. She spun on her haunches, snatching her lightsaber off her utility belt, bringing it around from the direction opposite her tail.

A crimson blade sizzled into existence and blocked, then a Force wave blasted her across the chamber into the wall opposite. The air left her lungs as her skull slammed against stone and a ring of darkness formed around the edges of her vision. She could see only her prey's red lightsaber and his seated silhouette. She felt nothing in the Force from him, only the same vague danger as before.

Now, this would be prey worth taking.

The shadow man returned to his feet and remained where he was, gathering himself to continue or arrogantly waiting for Saba to ask who he was. First mistake. Saba sprang, sissing in delight, ignoring the murk in her head, bringing her arms around in a vicious overhand slash. Her prey - she wasted no time wondering who he was-limped two steps back, then brought his crimson blade up and stopped her swing cold.

Saba brought a knee around, driving for his rib cage, and felt like she had struck a statue. He slipped a palm-heel under her guard and caught her in the chin, sent her staggering back.

Strong, too.

Saba kicked a fist-sized stone off the floor, then used the Force to hurl it at his head and followed it in with a cut at his knees. He pivoted past the stone and met her attack, catching her blade on his and sweeping it up in a disarming counter arc, power-fighting against a Barabel and winning.

At the top of the arc, Saba released her lightsaber and raked her claws down in a vicious one-two slash, the first strike opening her prey's face from temple to jaw, the second strike slicing an eye apart. He whirled away, still silent but screaming in the Force, and planted a spinning stomp kick in Saba's belly. She went with the blow, rolling into a quick backflip and losing half a meter of tail to his lightsaber.

Continuing to hold the Force lightning on her with one hand, the shadow man limped forward. In the light of his red lightsaber, Saba saw her prey clearly for the first time. Dressed in an amalgam of black plastoid armor and blue Killik chitin, he was surprisingly gaunt, with a sinewy frame and a twisted posture that looked ready to collapse beneath his humped shoulder. His face was even more melted and shapeless than Raynar's,just two eyes and a lipless slash in a scarred oval of flesh, and one of his arms was as much insect as human, turning tubular and chitinous at the elbow before ending in a hooked pincer.

Raynar and the Killiks had lied, Saba realized. Welk, at least, had also survived the Crash.

The Dark Jedi stopped a meter and a half away. Having learned the folly of hesitation, he brought his arm up quickly, swinging at Saba's neck-then pitched backward as her Force shove buckled his injured knee. His lightsaber scraped along Saba's skull, flooding her mind with a pain so hot and blinding that she could not tell whether the Force lightning had stopped. She sprang anyway and slammed into his chest, driving her prey the last half a meter to the ground, clutching blindly at his weapon arm, biting into his throat.

Her fangs barely sank two centimeters. She tried to rip the wound open, but lacked the strength to keep her jaw clamped and came away only with a mouthful of blood.

Still, the bite took her prey by surprise. She found herself in the grasp of the Force, flying back through the darkness. She reached out, calling her lightsaber to hand, and had it in her grasp when she hit the cavern wall.

Fighting off a black curtain of unconsciousness, Saba slid down the wall and landed on her feet. Her vision was blotchy at best, and she could not even hear the customary snap-hiss as she ignited her lightsaber. She sprang at her prey anyway, covering the distance in three short bounds, and nearly lost her balance when she landed in his blood.

Welk retreated two meters and leveled another fork of Force lightning at her. She deflected it with her lightsaber and pivoted past, sissing in excitement. It was turning into a good hunt, a very good hunt. She rushed to close the distance. He brought his lightsaber to a middle guard and retreated another step.

Saba attacked high, but her reflexes were fading and his lightsaber flashed up to block. He retreated another step. She launched a spinning advance, bringing her blade around in a shoulder slash, whipping her bloodied tail around at his legs.

She was smooth but slow. He blocked the shoulder slash and hopped over the tail sweep, then rolled his blade over Saba's in an excellent block-assault conversion.

The attack might have opened her throat, had there been a way for him to block Saba's trailing foot. As it was, she swept his feet from beneath him and continued into a second spin, bringing her lightsaber down across his pincer-arm, then planting afoot on his remaining arm and rolling her blade around to add a neck wound to the arm he had just lost.

That was when Saba's blotchy vision proved costly. She sensed something flying at her from behind and turned to look, but saw only dark against dark.

The rock slammed into her head wound, and then she was kneeling on the floor, her lightsaber in a high guard, with no recollection of how she had landed there. Her sight was worse than ever, narrowed to a tiny circle, and her senses of smell and taste had gone the way of her hearing.

This was becoming a hunt to remember.

Seeing nothing ahead but a narrow cone of rock, Saba stretched into the Force and felt more danger than before. It seemed to have her surrounded, as though her prey had extended his presence over the entire chamber. She began to weave her lightsaber in a blind defensive pattern and rose. Something spongy and warm landed on her shoulder beneath her head wound. She hoped it wasn't her brains.

Saba began to spin in a slow circle, and finally her narrow cone of vision fell on her quarry, fleeing toward the cavern wall at a fast limp, blood pouring from his neck wound, the cauterized stump of his severed arm waving useless in the air.

Good. The prey was weakening.

Saba shut down her lightsaber and bounded after him, her heart pounding in anticipation of the final kill. She reached the cavern wall three steps behind him... and hissed in surprise as something landed on her back and pierced her neck scales with a sturdy proboscis.

Saba spars with Corran Horn seemingly evenly, displaying proficiency in Jar'kai:

A few meters away, Saba Sebatyne and Corran Horn dueled, each adopting a traditional, formalized lightsaber posture-Saba using a lightsaber in each hand, Corran with his own weapon adjusted to its second setting, its blade now three meters in length and a brilliant Purple instead of its usual silver.

...

"Not as far as I can throw her." That was Corran, his voice punctuated by zaps as Saba advanced on him, trying to bat his longer blade aside.

Saba utilize Barabel power attacks to tire out Hamner:

Saba relied on the Barabel power attacks he had never learned to stop, hammering at his guard hard and fast, coming back time and again in an effort to wear him out before she had to kill him.

Finally, Hamner was too slow bringing his guard up after a brutal overhand slash. Saba leapt in to finish it, flipping her lightsaber around for a backhand pommel strike that would surely have knocked him unconscious - had he not been dropping to his haunches and swinging up at her rib cage.
