The Mother of War - Martial Arts Mastery
Military Genius: Generalship
The leader of her own band of elite warriors, an off-shoot of the Arashikage from Agiad'coda, the Agiad'kage, Luciana has amassed a force comprised of the world's finest warriors. Archers, swordsmen, none are lacking in the Agiad'kage's ranks. Individually, their talent and skill know little to no rival, however, it is under the guidance of Luciana's tactics that the Agiad'kage have grown into a reckoning outfit on the battlefield. And according to her tactics, it is fundamental that when facing an enemy, the Agiad'kage split into small units consisting of three to five kage as a means of avoiding being surrounded. Once the enemy force regroups, the Agiad'kage regroup as well. They are, according to the Mother of War, to appear suddenly, not unlike something dropping from the sky, and disappear like a flash of lightning. And their attacks? Famously signaled by the crack of a whip coined 'Mercy's Hiss'.
The Mother of the Agiad'kageDozens of Agiad'kage can therefore surround a much larger enemy force, and a larger number of Agiad'kage can control a significant front in order to attack the enemy at the right place and the right moment. Generally, Luciana tasks a group of her forces to make a direct charge into the enemy line and should the initial charge fail, a second and even third group would attack so that no matter how great the opposition's numbers, they would be unable to withstand the charges as they would be forced into a defensive, purely reactive position. And upon her signal, the Mother of War instructs her Agiad'kage to charge from all directions into the enemy lines in order to lay waste to their formation. She makes it a point of personally involving herself in their battles so that as their leader, she acts as a living, breathing source of morale among her forces. Because those in the Agiad'kage ranks are often superhuman, Luciana has assigned specific tasks for those born with the power of superhuman speed. She takes advantage of their greater reflexes and mobility by arming them with bows and arrows.
With control over their own momentum and kinetic energy, these Agiad'kage are trained to stop dead in mid-sprint to take aim and fire their arrows. And once the enemy comes under fire, their lines would be broken and they would scatter in disorder, rendering them vulnerable to attacks from the more physically powerful of the Agiad'kage. One of Luciana's most preferred tactics however, is feigning retreat to lure her enemies into ambushes. Her Agiad'kage are instructed to feign retreat and deliberately throw down some of their weapons. The Agiad'kage deceive their enemies into believing that they have yielded via retreat and thus, create incentive for the enemy to pursue them. However, after a certain distance, the retreating Agiad'kage suddenly turn to counterattack, and at that moment, the main Agiad'kage warriors appear from all sides in a prearranged ambush to lay waste to the enemy force. Occasionally, the Mother of War sends out two detachments of Agiad'kage in a wide curve, not unlike the tips of a bow, but with the main forces remaining at the center of the arc, concealing themselves in unassuming locations to await the enemy.
These two detachments then engage the enemy force, often peppering them with arrows to infuriate them and lure them to wherever the main Agiad'kage forces are waiting. These two detachments then close in from the flanks or from behind the enemy to leave them no pocket of space to escape.
Mixed Martial Arts System: Muay Thai & Defensive Grappling
Shaped into a dangerous pressure fighter by her mother, Mercy Sheridan, few can withstand the dauntless pressure the White Rose has used to flatten foe after foe after foe. The master of a mixed martial arts system that relies on punches, elbows, kicks and knees from an aggressive brand of Muay Thai and a form of defensive grappling to neutralize any grappling e.g. takedowns from the opponent, Luciana is preternaturally gifted in the art of using her defensive grappling to not only facilitate her striking but to expose her foes to it. her greatest work however, is done on the counter, and in open space, with her adversary willingly engaging. Taught by her mother to be a cerebral and thoughtful fighter, Luciana's talent for adapting to even the most difficult of situation is without par. But perhaps her greatest assets are her picture-perfect footwork and penchant for setting traps for her foes.
What footwork truly means is often misunderstood. Many hold the opinion that footwork is light-footed movement used to cleverly outmaneuver the opponent. While true, at its core, footwork is actually a means of improving one's position using the feet. For the White Rose, this could mean a variety of things. It could mean stepping to one side or the other, or pivoting around the opponent, or hopping off her front-foot and onto her back-foot to angle out. Footwork however, does not have to be evasive. Given the space to work, Luciana excels at measuring distance and stepping into her adversaries, not so much that she smothers herself, but just enough to land with deceptive power. According to the demands of her style, the White Rose may set her opponent up with a quick jab, and even should it be parried, the danger of the jab is left to burn in her opponent's mind. Taking advantage of this, Luciana may choose to retreat, dropping her hands slightly, inviting an attack from her foe by subtly exposing the gap left by her dropped hands. Should the opponent attempt to spring in to attack, Luciana flashes a quick jab feint towards her foe's face to force from them, a counter.
And more importantly, the counter of choice for a jab, a looping right hand that requires some winding up. And as the opponent winds up their right hand counter, the Mother of War counters the counter by stepping right up to her foe and blasting their liver with a vicious left hook. Though aggressive and capable of seizing the initiative, Luciana is at her most dangerous as a counter-striker and counter-grappler. The previously mentioned left hook, while methodical, is nearly invisible to the naked eye because of the speed with which Luciana counter-strikes, and cerebral because she stepped toward her opponent. By offering her foe a feint at long range, the Mother of War can draw a long range attack, one that is quickly negated by her closing the gap. And even the left hook itself is a well selected counter to the right hand. Why? Because with the opponent's arm extended, the ribs over their liver are extended and exposed to strikes.
--In-And-Out Angles--
Owing to her mother's training, the Knightfall Savant is no stranger to side steps and pivots. In fact, her primary method of defense is her footwork, with which she uses short, choppy steps to seize quick angles on her adversaries mid-exchange, often combining her steps with punches. For example, she may bait and measure her foe with the jab before stepping back and inviting her opponent's lead hand. Should her foe oblige, Luciana steps to her left with her left foot, a step that gives her a weak outside angle, allowing her to land a short right uppercut to her opponent's jaw while moving her head from the path of a potential counter-left hand. This however, leaves her momentarily vulnerable, prompting Luciana to get her left hand up to block a possible right hand or clinch attempt, all prior to swinging her right foot around, pivoting to regain a clean and dominant angle. From here, the Knightfall Savant leads, often throwing a distracting slap with her left hand before stepping off-line toward the outside angle.
This is a movement followed by yet another short right uppercut, one thrown safely the inside the arc of her foe's winging left hook should they execute one. And once again, Luciana completes her movement with a pivot. Sometimes however, her foe may reach out to grab a clinch. But because of Luciana's pivot, the opponent is without the comfortable angle needed to land a knee strike, enabling the White Rose to free herself with no more than a simple shove. Still however, Luciana storms forward, aggressively marching right into a knee of her own. Her footwork is effective, not artistic or beautiful. With short steps forward and to the sides, she can simultaneously close off the distance between herself and the opponent, outmaneuvering or smothering her foe's punches, and landing clean strikes of her own. It is a brand of footwork made all the more confusing by Luciana's never ending shifts between leads and counter. Though she is willing to wait for an opening but also content to force one into existence, it is her combination of those two principles that render her movements very difficult to track.
--Defensive Grappling--
A fighter whose bread and butter is aggressive Muay Thai, in a world of fighters who boast the most diverse skill-sets, it is fundamental that Luciana know not only how to defend takedowns, but all manner of grappling. With an impregnable takedown defense and defensive grappling abilities shocking for one with a kickboxing background, the Mother of War is notoriously difficult for opponents to get to the ground, and even more difficult for them to keep her there. And to the surprise of no one, the most integral ingredient to her sound takedown defense is footwork. For example, should an opponent shoot in for a takedown, or more specifically, a takedown on her left leg, the White Rose is quick in sprawling, using her flawless footwork to circle to her right, all while keeping her right leg beyond the foe's grasp, denying them the double leg takedown finish. And during the sprawl as the foe spins, Luciana is offered the chance to sprawl in the opposite direction as her opponent reaches for her right knee, overextending themselves and leaving them vulnerable to being broken down all the way with but a simple shove.
Luciana's takedown defense is, in addition to the excellent use of angles, comprised of a flawless sprawl, phenomenal head positioning, and a profound understanding of grips. Whether with a tight whizzer or a deep underhook, she is notoriously difficult to take down. Her takedown defense's greatest asset however, is the use of angles. An angle is angle. Whether grappling or striking, an angle is always an advantageous position.
The 21st Century Athena - Powers & Abilities
-Geokinesis-
With geokinesis as her primary power, Luciana, through years of rigorous training and perfection has mastered the ability to create, shape and manipulate earth including but not limited to rock, crystals, mud, earthen elements, earthen metals, minerals, mineral compositions such as sand and dust, salt etc. With her geokinesis, the Mother of War is blessed with the power to manipulate rock formations, alter entire landscapes and terrains (which to her, the commander of an armed force, is an invaluable tactical advantage), create earth-based physical constructs e.g. columns of rocks, crystal formations etc. Among Luciana's most iconic geokinetic powers however, owed to her versatility, is the ability to harness geothermal energy to melt rock into lava up to 1200 °C hot, lava which the White Rose can manipulate with exceptional talent.
Capable of shaping the molten rock into a variety of structures etc. such as bladed projectiles rendered semi-solid by altering the pressure and density of the lava's molecules, liquefying enormous patches of the ground into lava, projecting towering waves of lava by displacing a large volume of the molten rock etc. While often making use of her geokinesis to rearrange the terrain through a variety of means such as the creation of thick fissures, erection of large masses of earth, generation of lumbering earthquakes etc. the offensive potential of Luciana's geokinesis is in her manipulation of lava, which she uses as her principal destructive power. Her skill however, is seen not in the amount of destructive power her geokinesis offers, but in her dexterity with the subtler aspects of geokinesis, in particular, her ability to manipulate earthen elements, primarily calcium, which is essential for living organisms, and in particular, for cell physiology where the movement of the calcium ion Ca2+ into and out of the cytoplasm acts as a signal for a number of cellular processes.
As a major material required in the mineralization of bone, teeth and shells, calcium is the most abundant metal by mass in many living creatures, allowing the White Rose to manipulate it as she sees fit. With her expertise she can manipulate the calcium deposit in an adversary's bones, nails and teeth, allowing her to decrease bone density and weaken her opponent's bone structure. Furthermore, she can breakdown the calcium inside enzymes to cause the death of the cells in a target's body, use calcium to control muscle contractions, and even use calcium metal's hazardous reactions with water and acids in the body to generate heat and calcium hydroxide to saponify (turn into soap) the fats and liquefy the proteins in the mouth, esophagus and stomach. In addition to calcium, the Mother of War is capable of manipulating salt, a member of a wide range of chemicals formed when one or more hydrogen atoms of an acid has been replaced by a metal. Within her capabilities is stripping an opponent's body of sodium ions to disrupt electrical signaling in their nervous system, as well as dramatically increasing the salt in one's body, causing high blood pressure.
By altering the quantity of salt in her adversaries' bodies, she can induce muscle cramps, dizziness, electrolyte disturbance (potentially leading to dehydration), leading to neurological problems, and even death. By lowering sodium concentration in the blood of her foes, she is additionally able to cause hyponatremia, leading to liver failure, kidney failure, congestive heart failure and pneumonia. Furthermore, by lowering sodium concentration in one's blood, she can cause them to experience nausea, vomiting, headaches, short-term memory loss, confusion, lethargy, fatigue, muscle weakness, spasms or cramps, seizures, loss of consciousness and possible comas. By lowering sodium levels in the blood to severe levels, Luciana causes water to enter an adversary's brain cells, causing them to swell, resulting in increase pressure in the skull leads to the squeezing of the brain across the skull's internal structures. All of which lead to headaches, nausea, vomiting, confusion, seizures, brain stem compression and respiratory arrest, and the accumulation of fluid in the lungs. Perhaps the deadliest of the Mother of War's geokinetic powers, is her manipulation of the earthen element, carbon.
In particular, organic carbon which she can remove from the bodies of her adversaries, leading to the loss of many important biological compounds such as sugars, fats, and esters, and amino acids (which are needed for proteins). By stripping organic carbon from the bodies of her adversaries, Luciana can cause irreversible damage by removing the carbon that phosphorus and other elements need to form DNA and RNA, the chemical-code carriers of life, and adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the most important energy-transfer molecule in all living cells. Among her less obvious geokinetic powers is detecting movement by sensing subtle vibrations on the ground.
-Superhuman Physical Attributes-
The White Rose physical structure is a marvel enhanced to superhuman proportions by her X-Gene. Her overall metabolic efficiency is higher than ordinary, allowing her to fuel superhuman muscles, far stronger and denser than any ordinary human being. Her unique genes have rewritten what would have otherwise been an ordinary muscle protein structure into one that grants Luciana her titanic strength. Her body produces more of the contractile proteins of muscles, actin and myosin. This greater amount of contractile protein blesses the White Rose with an incredible degree of muscular strength, enabling her to lift a maximum of 20 tons. The composition of her skeleton is also unique in that herbones contain a high percentage of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, Vitamin D, and other minerals, rendering them more structurally durable and able to support the tremendous amount of weight that Luciana tends to lift etc.
Because of her incredible strength, the Mother of War is capable of propelling herself to impressive leaps and bounds as well as other feats of overall agility, particularly when combined with herinsubstantial mass. She is also exceptionally fast. Because speed is directly related to the strength of a muscle, Luciana is capable of short sprints at around 100 miles per hour and at over 50 miles per hour over a long period of time. Her reflexes however, are where her quickness is truly showcased. In addition to possessing enhanced energy resources for her strength and those energies manifesting all the way down to her metabolic intracellular processes, her nervous system's nerve conduction velocity is much faster due to these enormous energy resources, enabling her to respond to stimulus virtually without delay, granting erh nearly instantaneous reflexes. She is also capable of phenomenal displays of superhuman agility. Agility however, is commonly misunderstood as a single attribute. In fact, it is a combination of attributes, many of which Luciana possesses.
Her superhuman strength and speed allow her to perform the necessary movements, and due to the higher elasticity of her tissues despite their strength, he is awarded a significant amount of flexibility. Her nigh-instant reflexes allow her to adapt to any changing environment with extreme rapidity, enabling her to find equilibrium in any given situation usually without delay. This enhanced nerve efficiency is also applied to her cerebellum, granting her superhuman coordination and balance. Her enhanced proprioreceptors and their efficient sensitivity aggrandize her coordination and balance even more. Due to a mutation in her body's erythropoietin receptor (EPOR) gene, the Mother of War has primary familial and congenital polycthemia (PFCP) which causes an exponential increase in red blood cell mass and hemoglobin, resulting in an increase of around 50% in the oxygen carrying capacity of her blood, gifting her incredible stamina. All of this coupled with an uncanny ability for miraculous evasion are responsible for the White Rose's almost supernatural agility. Additionally, Luciana's entire body is tougher than the ordinary human body.
Her resilient tissues bless her with a great deal of shock absorbing capability and overall toughness. In effect, her skin and muscles are thicker, and herbones are more resistant to breaking. Her body is much hardier, her bones stronger, partially to support the tremendous weights she is capable of lifting, her skin is also tougher. This superhuman durability allows her to withstand for example, high-caliber gunshots, but only to a certain point however, before she is critically injured. The sheer hardiness and efficiency of her body renders it possible for her to heal at an accelerated rate and has slightly slowed down the aging process of her body.
