Marvel Nexus: The Silver Wasp

Silver van Dyne was the fabulously rich daughter of a Symkarian diplomat by day and professional problem solver by night. Sent to steal an experimental technology for her father she fell in love with brilliant scientist Hank McCoy on a trip to the USA. in an incredible accident involving the invention she was trying to steal, the Beast Particle, she became the Silver Wasp and now looks to protect such a dangerous weapon from falling into the wrong hands.

“Thank you for seeing us Doctor Williams.” Hank said as he stepped into the office of renowned scientist Heinrich Williams. Professional from the neck down Hank was dressed in a lab coat, shirt and slacks as well as sensible shoes like a respectable scientist; it was only his dyed indigo hair that caused most of the scientific community to ridicule him. “How is your work on a new industrial adhesive going on?”

“Well Herr Mc Coy.” Heinrich stated as he got up from his chair and shook Hank’s hand. “I am almost ready for the first field test. But we haven’t come to talk about my work we have come to talk about yours. What of this revolutionary new bio-technology I hear your department has created. Project Manticore could use some good news from its experimental science department.”

“It’s exciting Heinrich.” Hank replied as he stared into Heinrich’s deep blue eyes, “But so far we are limiting any exposure of the lab animals to the Beast Particles. Until we can get the random genetic changes stabilised we don’t know what kind of mutations we could create.”

“But you must have been curious Dr McCoy? Curious to see the effects on mammalian tissues rather then the ants you have been exposing to your experiments.” Heinrich asked as he shook strands of his long blonde hair out of his face. “Maybe even entertained the notion of testing it on human subjects?”

“That’s a dangerous road to start down Heinrich.” Hank warned, “So far nothing has been released about the Beast Particles because not everyone will see the peaceful applications they can be used for. Most will see them as a tool to created soldiers, weapons and slave labour and I will not let my work be corrupted like that.”

“Yes, yes I can see the reason for your fears.” Heinrich stated, “It’s just the board of directors is looking for people to let go and Experimental Science is where they want to make the biggest cuts. I need to give them something to confirm their money is being well spent and so do you.”

“If it’s funding your after then talk to my assistant Ms. Van Dyne, she has the uncanny ability to produce money whenever I need it.” Hank stated before gesturing to the woman sitting in the corner listening to her I-Pod. Dressed in a silver dress the same shade as her hair, Silver Van Dyne seemed unaware that her employer was talking about her.

“Ah yes Ms. Van Dyne was in the lab with you the day of the accident. The day the Beast Particles decomposition was accelerated, it’s amazing that the pair of you weren’t hurt by the explosion.

“Yes, while Silver thinks that it was industrial sabotage I’d wager that it was just a harmless accident.” Hank stated.

“Such things happen; my Adhesive X has caused many a problem to my lab.” Heinrich stated, “Anything caught by it seems to become permanently bonded with it, a problem I am trying to overcome.” He added just before the building shook. “Mein Got did you feel that.”

“Probably just a parade.” Hank replied as the building shook, “Although these seismic vibrations could cause problems with some of the more temperamental samples in my lab.”

”Mine as well.” Heinrich added as the building shook again, this time with another force to cause the windows to rattle. “This is intolerable.” He stated walking out onto the balcony just as the building rocked again. Following him out Hank and Silver looked out onto the street to see a pink tornado revolving up the side of the building before powering past them into Heinrich’s office, the gale force blasts scattering research across the room until the power behind it stopped.

“That’s…that’s a woman.” Hank gasped as a woman dressed in form fitting green armour and bronze saw blades attached to her wrists gathered up an armful of data. “Fascinating, she was able to create some kind of localised weather vortex.”

“Shut it egg-head!” The woman spat as she spun up her saw blades and released a gust of wind that knocked both the doctors and Silver off their feet. “Or Screaming Whirlwind will cut you to ribbons. Now give me your data Dr McCoy and nobody will get hurt.”

“Quite the opposite.” Hank yelled at the intruder. “I don’t think you’re the kind of person who would use that technology responsibly.”

“If you won’t give it to me then I’ll take it.” Screaming Whirlwind hissed grabbing Hank before surrounding herself in a pink tornado and ripped through the wall into the street.

“Who was that woman?” Heinrich asked, “And more to the point how did she know about Herr McCoy’s research?”

“Excuse us Dr Williams.” Silver stated politely as she backed out of the room. “I have things to do.”

“And you me.” Heinrich replied as he took one look at the gaping hole in his office before striding to the door. “As have I.”
