AAU Shuperstar Flattens His Arch Enemy...The Menacing Missile-Toe (Comic Ads #2)
| Comic Ads are more than just the mountain of Hostess Ads we know and love. Over the years, many a company has used one page comic ads to shill their products in the pages of comic books! So I thought I'd do a list series that showcases those ads, and shows you what issues I've found them in. To me, these are as much a part of comics history as any superhero, and I love 'em for the nostalgia they bring. I hope they do the same for you. Enjoy. |
As a kid, characters that don't quite make sense aggravated me a bit. I mean, how do shoes give you super powers? But then, go ask Hermes about his winged sandals I suppose, so this isn't completely without precedent. Still, a guy that fires missiles from the toes of his boots? Please, he'd just have a gun for those silly things. Of course, he couldn't call himself Missile-Toe then, but all the better.
Now though, I love these ads for their corny, pun-filled goodness. So I'm glad there was someone to protect our soles, bringing the agony of da feet to Missile-Toe. I still wonder why they didn't spell it "Shoeperstar" though.
