I've decided to change something concerning covers in the Would U Buy It? blogs. I just did #129: The Human Target, and I ran into a problem- for the books he was in, he was a back-up feature, and usually didn't appear on the covers. There was a one-shot special dedicated to him, and that was the only cover I had to choose from for the cover. When it came time to add the covers of all the books I was pulling the appearances from... there didn't seem to be much point to it. So, I decided to leave them out.

I have to admit, it felt weird leaving them out, and there feels like there's something missing from that blog. But... it sure did save a lot of time. <looks off to side guiltily> ...So, yeah... I'm not going to add all of the covers anymore.

Another thing leading to this decision is way back when I did #90: Black Lightning, Vol. 1-2, Volume 1 was coming from the 1977 Black Lightning series- great. Volume 2 was coming from back-ups though, and Black Lightning wasn't on those covers. I couldn't just leave the V2 covers out of the blog though- that would have looked weird- so there's all these World's Finest covers (among a few others) on there that have nothing do with the proposed TPB. That doesn't really feel any better than if I had left them off. If I hadn't had to worry about all of that though? Priceless.

There's a few other things about adding all of those covers too:

  1. Yes, it is really time consuming to add all of those covers. I could definitely stand cutting that out of the process.
  2. If I could use the "Search the Site" option to make a side-by-side row of ten, then the covers wouldn't appear in my Images tab. That's not an option on CV though, so to add them side-by-side in a row of ten, I have to use the "URL" option. That means every cover I add goes into my Images tab, and that is a ton of clutter. After 129 issues of adding the covers to my Images tab, not adding to that clutter really appeals to me.
  3. It has always bugged me that I was just duplicating what's on the wiki pages by adding all of the covers. I provide the links to the first of each string of issues, so people can go to the wiki to look for themselves. Having those links has also helped me a few times when site reboots or glitches have caused me to have to go find those covers again (it happens- it's best to be prepared). I've only ever added the covers just so there's something else to look at. Don't really need it though.

Now, the only covers that will be added are the covers I suggest be used for each TPB volume, and any I suggest be used for back covers (when I do that). That will be so much cleaner. More importantly: WAY less time consuming! So, on to making more WUBI's!

As always, thanks for reading, and thanks for stopping in! :^D
