With Issus dead, the High Priest of Issus, retreats to a secret chamber where he activates a doomsday machine which could collapse the Barsoomian atmosphere. Linea, trying to save the Black Martians, leads John Carter and Carthoris to him, but the machine was already activated.
A team of Red Martian scientists discovers the factory that gobbles up the Barsoomian atmosphere, which is located beneath the Sea of Omean. Linea, John Carter, Carthoris and some Black and Red Martian warriors set out for the factory. Upon entering, the group is attacked by a giant Silian. Linea is mortally wounded by the attack. With her last breath, she orders the Black Martians who are present, to make peace with the Red Martians.
