This isn't original journalism; all the following info can be found in Jen's bio at http://cartozia.com/jen-vaughn/
During her childhood Jen read the Enchanted Forest series, the Xanth books, and any other comics she could get her hands on. She grew up in Texas and now lives and works in Seattle, where she has become involved as a marketing manager and one of the younger proponents of Fantagraphics Books.
Many people know of Jen through her work at the Charles M. Schulz Library, and for appearing prominently in the 2012 documentary Cartoon College. Jen graduated in 2010 with an MFA from the school featured in that film, the Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) in White River Junction, Vermont. Her resume includes work on the Mermaid Hostel webcomic and contributions to the Adventure Time and Princeless comics titles. And she edits Lies Grown-Ups Told Me, which won the 2012 Stumptown Award for Best Anthology!
Her current project, a gem in her career, is the Kickstarted Cartozia Tales comics project. It's a fantasy story, a built-from-scratch mythology and free-form world spearheaded by the brilliant Isaac Cates. Jen and a team of equally fabulous cartoonists create the world as they go, leaving a trail of childish imagination and fantastical shenanigans in their wake. Jen has decided that, were she to find herself in Cartozia, she would love to hang out on the Library Stairs, waiting for them to change location. She'd wait forever to figure out that algorithm.
