Avatar Respect Threads: Appa and Momo

This respect thread will be dedicated to everyone's favorite flying bison and lemur, Appa and Momo. Serious stuff, funny stuff, part funny part serious stuff, it can all go here.

Appa

Appa's basically a giant, lovable teddy bear (except he's a bison, he can fly, and he isn't a teddy bear). He provides transportation and comic relief, but when needed he is more than capable of holding his own or dominating a fight.

(The following will actually be serious stuff. Appa doesn't always fight, but when he does he's actually quite impressive)

In a world of preteen benders, Appa is a multi-ton heavyweight who is more than capable of making his presence known and drastically altering the outcome of a fight with his intervention. He's a physical powerhouse, as will be shown below

Pretty self explanatory. This was a tired, injured Appa too

This guy had Aang pinned down, but Appa's not having that

Appa to the rescue smashing through the Dai Li's wall like paper

Sky Bison were said to be the first airbenders, an ability Appa showed primarily in his flight. However, that was not the only form of airbending he was capable of.

A flick of his tail was enough to knock down all of these buzzard wasps

Mai and Ty Lee had beaten Katara and Sokka, but one flick from Appa solves that problem.

Of course, he is capable of more than just blasting people away

So, in all, while there's plenty of funny stuff to say about Appa, he's got some very solid, legitimate feats that make him quite the powerhouse.

Underestimate him at your peril

Momo

Lord Momo of the Momo Dynasty, His Momoness. Appa's faithful companion, and the secret ruler of the Avatar world. His power knows no bounds.

If you're not a Momo fan, you should probably just stop reading now, because only his true followers will understand.

Momo's fast, clever, and quite the little scrapper when he needs to be

Momo faced his greatest battle yet when he went up against Admiral Zhao, the mighty moon buster himself.

However, Zhao's tremendous moon-slaying ability did not keep the mighty Lord Momo from humbling him.

Truly a tremendous feat

No respect thread for Appa and Momo would be complete without this

And, of course, some acknowledgement of their incredible hiding abilities

Plenty more that could (and probably will) be added, but this seems like a good start

To add to this thread, some completely legit, mathematical logic:

By the property of Momoness: Appa = Momo (as shown by their stalemate sword fight)

As seen in the following gif, Mai and Ty Lee > Katara and Sokka

However, Appa > Mai and Ty Lee, therefore Appa > Katara and Sokka

Now, as we see here,

And here

Katara > Azula

Therefore, Appa > Azula

And, as we can see here,

Azula killed (nearly killed) Aang in the Avatar State

Therefore, by the property of contextless-gifs, Azula > the Avatar State

Now, the Avatar State > well, anything else

Can't really censor a gif, so this'll do

Except, of course, for Appa and Momo

So, in conclusion:

Momo = Appa > Mai and Ty Lee > Sokka and Katara > Azula > Avatar State > the Avatarverse including Mai, Ty Lee, Sokka, Katara, and Azula < Momo and Appa (because Appa and Momo are the beginning and the end of Avatar)

Was watching the unaired pilot for Avatar. They clearly got some things right

I didn't appreciate before just how nonchalant Appa is while beating this wolf spirit. I mean, look at his face, he looks bored

Appa would stomp Zaheer harder than Tenzin already did!
