Respect Canon Luke Skywalker (RotJ)

Luke Skywalker is the hope of the rebellion and has faced off numerous threats and opponents. While his feats aren't on the same level as they were in the legends universe Luke is still one of the most powerful and most accomplished jedi in the entire universe.

Accolades

Luke is one of the greatest jedi of all time

Luke Skywalker was a Tatooine farmboy who rose from humble beginnings to become one of the greatest Jedi the galaxy has ever known.

Luke learned much from Yoda.

Luke headed to Dagobah as instructed and found Yoda. He was not what Luke expected -- small, alien, and green, with a unique backwards way of speaking. Luke trained hard, failing often but learning much from his wise Master.

Physicals

Speed

Luke reacts to blaster fire and cuts a speeder in half.

Luke speed impresses Vader.

Luke can swing his lightsaber fast enough to leave afterimages.

Luke was able to use the force to dodge his way through multiple traps.

Durability

Luke was able to tank a near shot from a blaster turret.

Lightsaber Combat

Luke excels at lightsaber combat having demonstrated multiple forms and having been self taught but still killed enough to defeat Darth Vader in lightsaber combat.

Like all Jedi recruits Luke was taught the basics of Form I in his early training under Obi-wan. Luke was skilled enough to deflect blasts with this form blindfolded after mere moments of training.

Luke was able to fight Boba Fett after he was blinded by a flash grenade.

Luke also possessed some skill in Form III which he used to deflect lasers.

Luke has scared off multiple Tusken Raiders though they are typically easily startled they are still very dangerous.

Luke was able to fight magnadroids capable of taking on Jedi Knights with little training.

Luke showed impressive growth after his training with Yoda, he was able to drive back Vader during their fight on Bespin and even land a blow on the Sith Lord.

Eventually even with little training Luke was able to fight evenly with Vader and win due to a rage amp.

Force Abilities

Luke is very adept at using the force being considered very powerful and of a very similar caliber to an uninjured Anakin Skywalker.

He was able to open dozens of jedi holocrons accidentally.

Telekinesis

By the time of the battle of Hoth Luke had learned to move small items with the force.

He had enough raw power to shake a star destroyer accidentally.

He also begins to be able to lift heavier objects like raising the x-wing slightly out of the water.

Luke was able to crack the glass of a starship with pure emotion.

He was able to causes the crashes of multiple ties at once.

Force Sense

Luke has demonstrated the ability to sense things no ordinary human could such as when he sensed Vader from a very large intership distance.

Luke can deflect lasers while blinded

Luke has been able to see into the future and has had visions of his friends and loved ones in danger.

Luke can sense murderous intent.

He also used the force to find the location of imperial probes.

Er, here's some feats if you're interested.

Luke physically overpowers Vader

Blow upon blow, Luke forced Vader to retreat - back, onto the bridge that crossed the vast, seemingly bottomless shaft to the power core. Each stroke of Luke’s saber pummeled Vader, like accusations, like screams, like shards of hate. The Dark Lord was driven to his knees.

Vader is astonished by Luke's strength, and notes that his timing has been honed to a "thoughts-breadth"

He was astounded by the strength Luke had acquired since their last duel, in the Cloud City - not to mention the boy’s timing, which was honed to a thoughts-breadth

Uses the Force to deflect a large piece of machinery threw at him by Vader

A second piece of machinery sped toward the youth, and he again used the Force to deflect it. The weighty object bounced away as if it had struck an unseen shield.

Luke sees fear inside of Palpatine

Luke paused, for he saw something else, as well; something he hadn’t seen before in the Emperor. Fear. Luke saw fear in the Emperor - fear of Luke. Fear of Luke’s power, fear that this power could be turned on him - on the Emperor - in the same way Vader had turned it on Obi-Wan Kenobi. Luke saw this fear in the Emperor - and he knew, now, the odds had shifted slightly. He had glimpsed the Emperor’s nakedest self.

First two are from Return of the Jedi novelization, third one is from The Empire Strikes Back novelization, and the last one is from Return of the Jedi as well.

And in case anyone is wondering, yes, the novelizations are still canon.

@silentbat: Especially the junior novels, as they are literally nearly the exact same thing as the movies.

@thevivas: Right. The only discrepancies derive from the adult novels.

Also, I wouldn't give too much credit to after images. Even Leia and Han were creating after images in the comics.

So how powerful does that Luke essentially? Above Vader but below Yoda and Sidious?

125 INT EMPEROR'S TOWER - THRONE ROOM  Luke stands still, as the Emperor reaches the bottom of thestairs. The Emperor's laughter has turned to anger. He raises his arms toward Luke.

If you will not be turned, you will be destroyed.
Blinding bolts of energy, evil lightning, shoot from the Emperor's hands at Luke. Even in his surprise, the young Jedi tries to use the Force to deflect them. At first he is half successful, but after a moment the bolts of energy are coming with such speed and power the young Jedi shrinks before them, his knees buckling. The wounded Vader struggles to his feet, and moves to stand at his master's side.

Old thread, but people adding feats from the movie novelizations shouldn't be, those aren't canon. The old film novelizations apply to the Legends version of Luke, not the canon one.

Luke has a surprising lack of feats throughout the movies in comparison the prequel Jedi and Anakin. Hopefully he impresses in Episode VIII

Now that Episode VIII is out I can say Luke did indeed impress. Although he also disappointed at the same time, which is as much as I’ll say without spoilers.
