Ven Zallow was a Human male Jedi Master alive during the Great Galactic War, a conflict begun in 3681 BBY when the forgotten Sith Empire emerged from hiding to combat the Galactic Republic. It was around this time that Zallow trained his apprentice, Aryn Leneer, to Knighthood. In 3653 BBY, twenty-eight years after the war's beginning, the Sith forces contacted the Republic with their wish to negotiate an end to the conflict. The Jedi Order were skeptical of the Sith's intentions, but they realized that they had little chance of winning the war and decided to see if peace was really possible. Leneer had been selected as one of the Republic's delegates to the peace conference on the Core World of Alderaan, and Zallow saw her off as she departed Coruscant, capital planet of the Republic. Unknown to the Republic, the Sith planned to use the talks as a diversion as their forces moved in on the Republic capital. When a pair of intruders—Darth Malgus and Eleena Daru—entered the Jedi Temple, Zallow, accompanied by his colleagues, was quick to confront the two. Before anything could be done, a captured Republic shuttle full of Sith warriors and Sith Inquisitors crashed through the Temple's main entrance. Its passengers quickly disembarked, immediately attacking the group of Jedi. Zallow duels Darth Malgus after fighting through "hordes of forces" and prevents him from counterattacking with a series of rapid strikes. Zallow would lose the duel by being outsmarted by Malgus but pushing one of the Empire's greatest warriors onto the defensive is a pretty good showing of skill. Darth Malgus: An Examination of Power
Zallow and a group of Jedi were the first to meet an unidentified Sith Lord and his Twi'lek companion who had killed a company of guards outside the Temple entrance. All Jedi in the group were witness to a sabotaged Republic gunship crashing through the walls of the Temple entrance and revealing dozens of Sith hidden inside. The following battle marked the beginning of the Sacking of Coruscant, as Sith and Imperial forces battles the shocked Jedi and Republic troops inside the Temple, with Zallow and the first Sith, later identified by Aryn Laneer as Darth Malgus, fighting through the hordes of forces to reach each other. When they did, Malgus fought with brute strength and vicious melees, while Zallow kept controlled and slipping in a blow when he could past the Sith's red wave of hate.
The fight escalated toward the now-destroyed Temple entrance, where Zallow could see that Imperial forces were laying waste to Coruscant's cityscape. Hoping to draw Malgus in, Zallow hoped to end the fight quickly, but Malgus anticipated Zallow's final killing blow and gutted Zallow above the abdomen. Malgus retracted his blade, leaving Zallow to die from his wound.

Eschewing speed and grace for power, Zallow loosed a flurry of rapid strikes, slashes, and lunges. Malgus parried one blow after another but could not find an opening to mount his own counterattack. Lunging forward, Zallow slashed crosswise, Malgus parried, and Zallow slammed the hilt of his saber into the side of Malgus's jaw.
A tooth dislodged and his respirator was knocked askew. Malgus tasted blood, but he was too deep in the Force for the blow to do real damage. He staggered backward a step, as if the blow had stunned him.
Seeing an opening, Zallow stepped forward and crosscut for Malgus's throat.
As Malgus knew he would do.
Malgus turned his blade vertical to parry the blow and spun out of the blade lock. Reversing his lightsaber during the spin, he rode it into a stab that pierced Zallow's abdomen and came out the other side.

"What of the Jedi bodies?" Adraas asked.
