Hello all! I was wondering, if you had to share one story that you were proudest of, what would it be?

I've written stuff I'm really proud of but at the same time I've got a back catalogue of stuff I wish no longer existed. I'd love to read something that you think showcases the best of your ability!

Post a link below and share the love?

I think we've all got some stuff that we think is the best thing since sliced bread and others we wish we could will from existence. I don't really count my fan fiction as my best. I don't think I'm that good at writing fan fics. My original writing on the other hand...

I think these three stories might be some good examples of me at my best.

@time_phantom: Blimey, mate. I was looking for fan fiction and I got something else entirely and I'm not even disappointed. I left some feedback on the first two but am going to try and get back to the third down the line. I'm all tensed out! Great work!

@houseofmystery: That's a bit hard but I'm kinda partial to my Punisher run, which you can find in here: http://www.comicvine.com/forums/fan-fic-8/batkevin74s-personal-library-of-indulgence-703446/

@houseofmystery: Thank you. I'm rather proud of them myself. Now to reply:

Yes dialogue can be hard. My trick is just knowing the characters. If that makes since. If I know them I know what they'd say and do in a certain situation. Then when it feels right I just go with it.

Now establishing a setting snd description can be hard. That's were the tone and atmosphere is. Sure dialogue helps set it and I try to give you the story there. But if that isn't working the piece is flawed.

Yeah those endings were kinda grim, weren't they?

First off this is a really cool idea, secondly it's really tough picking what your best work is but I'm really enjoying writing Tales of Asgard at the moment which can be found here... Tales of Asgard #1

Let me know what you think if you get the chance :D

I'm still riding on the reputation of this story to this day. :P

"Hey, didn't you do Gotham Hearts?"

"Well, I also did Secret Six, Justice Society of America, Terra/Misfit: World's Finest, Riddle Me This, and Wrath of the Red Lanterns... but yes. I did Gotham Hearts."

@irishlad: I may end up finishing it on my own someday. Ravager4 has kinda dropped off the fan-fic map but we did have some plans to tie up and finish the series. It had a great run honestly, like 14 issues.

@houseofmystery: Like the "real" S6 cast it changed a bit. The last roster was Scandal Savage, Ragdoll, Bane, Harley Quinn, Ravager, and Arsenal.

@time_phantom: I understand completely! Neil Gaiman put it best when he said that he's tried writing stories, but the characters won't let him take the narrative in his preferred direction, their voices, their personalities, will make him change the end result. It's a bit of a fun idea, but so true. You can have an endgame in mind but it changes COMPLETELY when you throw your characters into the mix, and I think that's the best way to a) tell stories and b) write dialogue. Know who your characters are and let them write themselves!

@joygirl: Well if you'd ever like an "incentive" to continue the series, we'd love to see your Secret Six stuff over on the site I write at over on the DC2 (http://www.dc2universe.net/). I intend to read everything that's posted in this thread (unless the thread gets REALLY popular and the suggested reading list becomes MASSIVE) so I look forward to seeing what you guys worked on with the characters. Thanks for sharing!

Want me to help you wrap it up? I stopped reading after that thing with Grifter but I've read most of the series.

The story I am getting the most praise for, the one I've spent the most time on, the one I am the most proud of and... probably one of the longest stories on Fanfiction.net is my Raven Rising series.

Story is based on the old Teen Titans cartoon, bleeding it into the Timm-verse of BTAS, STAS and JL/JLU with hints and references to various stories that's only appeared in the comics. The central character is (obviously) Raven, returning to the lives of the disbanded Titans after having gone missing for a year.

If you wanna start reading, please do and let me know what you think:

Book 1: New Gotham Adventures

Book 2: Scars

Book 3: A Quest for Rebirth

Book 4: Two Years Later (ongoing)
