Update On The Summer Vacations of Some Superheroes (FanFic)
Most of the superheroes organized their vacations so no city would be left unprotected.
Zatanna went through a travel agent to arrange her vacation. She had mentioned her affinity with rabbits. The travel agent sent her to a Playboy Bunny themed resort. At first she was a little embarrassed. Then she found out some of the activities and decided to go. One requirement was to bring a Playboy Bunny suit to wear on a special night. Zatanna found that the bunny suit flattered her impressive figure.
When she arrived there she was greeted by a Hugh Hefner lookalike and was taken to her room. The ersatz Hefner jokingly asked if she wanted to join his harem. The room was large with a queen sized bed. She was left on her own to unpack, etc. She decided to make use of the gym, the running track and the pool. These would help her stay in shape. She also wanted to visit the spa each day.
So she got started working out in the gym and running around the track and was glad she brought her supply of sport bras. After the workout she took a cool shower and wore her bathrobe to the spa. The spa included a mud bath, sauna and massage. She would follow this routine daily.
The first evening included dinner and socializing. There was a fully stocked bar. Zatanna was pleased that several men made passes at her. She was less pleased by the women who flirted with her. She understood how it was though and took it in stride. She had a number of dates, but made no commitments.
The remainder of the week consisted of trips to the beach, an outlet mall that included Victoria’s Secret, and since it was California a ski trip. The last night included a special event, the guests were invited to wear their bunny costumes and demonstrate some talent they had. Zatanna was glad she had a magic routine already worked out. Her performance went well and the next day she left the club feeling pleased. Friends said she was glowing.
Wonder Woman (WW), Supergirl (SG) and Mary Marvel (MM) shared a hotel suite near the beach. MM was still traumatized because the last time she was MM she was possessed by the repulsive Desaad. So she actually went as Mary Batson. One afternoon she was walking on a pier and noticed a large boat heading toward the pier as if it was out of control. MM realized that she was the only one available who might be able to stop the boat from crashing into the pier.
She ducked behind a shanty and said the word SHAZAM! Suddenly like a flash of lightning she was MM again, without Desaad. MM rushed in the direction of the boat and flew off the pier and stopped the boat. The crew killed the engine and she towed it back to port. There was a lot of cheering and it made her feel good finally.
The same day WW was sunbathing but was disturbed by a serious commotion at a bait and tackle shop. She decided to change into her superhero identity and proceeded to the bait and tackle shop. There were several people outside the building demanding that an end be put to fishing and the use of live bait.
WW got there and announced in her authoritative voice for the ado to stop. Then she pulled the two leaders of the protesters aside to find out quietly what their story was. They objected to the inhumane aspects of fishing and wanted the shop owner to stop his business. WW told them she would now talk to the owner and get his story. He said he had operated that shop for 35 years and that was his only livelihood.
She brought the leaders and the shop owner together to work out an acceptable agreement. She asked the shop owner what it would cost to buy out his supply of live bait and he said there was about $300.00 worth left. WW asked the protest leaders if they were willing to pay him $300.00 to liberate the bait. They said yes and got the money together and paid the owner.
Now they had to remove the live bait and return them to their natural habitat. WW said she was willing to help by distributing the earthworms. Then she found out there were 10 large plastic buckets full of them. She sighed and picked up two buckets of the wriggling earthworms and flew off toward a freshly plowed field and spread them out over the field. Fortunately she met up with SG and she agreed to help although she thought earthworms were icky. SG did a lot of sighing and tried not to look at the buckets of worms. Between the two of them they spread the earthworms in appropriate locations around the county.
WW went back to the shop and spoke to the group leaders and said if they were really serious they might be able to buy the shop. She warned them to be polite and noncontentious in their dealings with the owner. She said that nothing good came from contention.
She left and headed back to her hotel room. There she met up with MM and SG and they were all excited. WW said they should celebrate MMs return to normalcy. She had her own sorrows from being abused by Darkseid. There were hugs and happy tears all around. MM said “I love you guys”, which prompted giggles from SG. WW said that she and SG were doing good deeds too and related the events of the afternoon. She said she felt very good having helped to end an ugly scene and saving some of Gaia’s lowliest creatures from a painful end.
They showered and got dressed to go out to dinner. MM said “it better not be seafood” and they all laughed.
