This is my own altered version of Superman, done purely for fun =D I wasn't happy with my first version I posted so I deleted it and started again. I took inspiration from things like Earth-One and a piece I found written on the Tomar-Re page which details an Origin for Superman I had never read before.

Kal-El, Superman
Kryptonian History
The Kryptonians were a technologically advanced race of humanoids located on the alien planet Krypton in space sector 2813. They possessed vast, but untapped superhuman potential directly linked to their physiologies process when exposed to certain types of solar radiation produced by stars. However, they were unable to achieve this potential due to the specific wave length of radiation produced by their native red sun Rao, which suppressed their races powers. Also, evolving in the environmental conditions of Krypton, the Kryptonians possessed physical strength and longevity beyond that of human beings. The average Kryptonian male could lift two tons and lived for roughly three hundred years, without the aid of science to prolong their lives.
The Kryptonians instead began relying on their advanced technology to aid them in conquering their genetic inability to gain powers from red solar radiation. They deduced that their physiology would be compatible with the light of a younger yellow star, and soon began developing prototype ships which would allow them to explore the stars and locate a suitable planet orbiting a yellow sun.
After several years they successfully developed star ships capable of escaping Krypton’s extremely heavy gravity, and planned their first mission of locating a new planet to inhabit. After several failed attempts they succeeded in finding a planet with suitable environmental conditions and a team departed immediately. They reached the planet which they named Titan in less than a month, and the Kryptonian explorers exited their craft and stepped out into the light of a yellow sun for the first time.
Two weeks after arriving, the two hundred Kryptonians began developing extraordinary powers, such as incredible physical strength and speed, enhanced senses, impenetrable skin, and perhaps the most amazing of all, the ability of unassisted flight. Delighted with these results, the Kryptonian council began moving more and more carefully selected Kryptonians to Titan, all of which developed superpowers to varying degrees.
Expansion Of The Empire
Three hundred years later the Kryptonians had become a power hungry race, unaffected by age while empowered by the yellow sun, and maintained a vastly growing empire through the stars. They used their powers and technology to conquer several races, and presided over the alien natives, using them as slave labour, however, they always kept their weakness of red sunlight a secret for fear that it could be used against them. The Kryptonian population on Titan now reached into the hundreds of millions, and continued to grow.
Back on Krypton, the ruling Kryptonian council kept the citizens in the dark about the real purpose of the missions to alien planets, and also kept the knowledge of the effects of yellow sunlight from them, not wanting Kryptonians they could not control gaining powers. However, throughout the stars, the exploits of the super powered Kryptonians had drawn the attention of several alien races including the Green Lantern Corps of Oa, who were concerned that the Kryptonians were growing to powerful, but most of all power hungry, with a ever growing superiority complex.
Downfall
The expanding Kryptonian empire would be cut short when they attempted to take control of a planet called Dheron, whose natives, while not attributed with superhuman powers, did possesses incredible collective knowledge as a species, which attributed to their great leaps in all areas of scientific and technological advancements.
The Kryptonians began their invasion of Dheron with little planning, confident in their superior powers, and eager to get their hands on Dherons technology, which was beyond even their own. The Dheronians were overwhelmed and overpowered by the Kryptonian army, but did manage to capture and contain a rookie Kryptonian soldier and studied him, quickly discovering the secret of their weakness to red solar radiation which was locked away in their genetic cellular biology. While the Kryptonians continued to casually conquer the cities of Dheron, the Dheronian military hastily developed weapons powered by artificial red solar radiation, which proved highly effective at weakening the yellow sun powered Kryptonians, allowing them to be killed.
On Titan the Krypton military faction, while disturbed by the news of their weaknesses being discovered, did not see it as to much of a threat and decided that instead of conquering the planet of Dheron, they would send the bulk of their military personnel and overwhelm them by sheer numbers and strength, completely wiping out the Dheronian race so as know knowledge of their weakness would survive. However, the Dheronians had predicted this would be the course of action the arrogant Kryptonians would take, and had already begun developing radiation filters which would turn the radiation produced from their yellow sun into the depowering wavelength produced by red stars. The Dheronians allowed the Kryptonian fleets to enter their atmosphere and once the entire Kryptonian military of Titan had amassed on the surface on Dheron they activated the radiation filters turning their sun red.
Within hours the Kryptonians were effectively powerless, and their star ships were destroyed with precision laser, leaving them trapped and defenceless on Dheron. The natives, who had lost millions to the invading Kryptonians, mercilessly executed their would be conquers leaving know survivors. Unsatisfied, the Dheronians, with revenge in their hearts, took their technology to the planets which the Kryptonians had conquered and repeated the technique, taking away their powers and using their precision laser technology to quickly wipe out the yellow sun powered Kryptonians.
Death Of Titan
Within weeks they made it to Titan and deployed their radiation filters, again turning the empowering yellow sun red, draining their powers and destroying their star ships. They systematically wiped out the entire Kryptonian population on Titan with their advanced technology, dropping bombs which levelled the gleaming cities, and the lasers which vaporized anything in their path. Within a day Titan had fallen, the battle had been a massacre, with only a handful of Kryptonians left alive who were tortured into revealing information concerning their home planet of Krypton and it’s location.
After being told that the general population of Krypton were unaware of the empowerment and expansion of the Kryptonian empire, the Dheronians were left split on what to do, some wanted to commit genocide so as not to allow them a chance to start over again, while others thought it unfair to wipe out the naïve citizens. After heated debated they decided on a solutions to the Kryptonian problem, they would travel to Krypton and instead of killing them they would release billions of microscopic nanites into Krypton’s atmosphere which would rewrite the dna structure of every Kryptonian, leaving them dependent on the exact frequency of radiation produced by their sun Rao, effectively rendering them unable to leave their home world again. This they did without regret, and after confirming the deed had been done, the Dheronians departed back for their battle scared home.
Consequences And Fallout
The Kryptonian council were unaware of the genetic sabotage, and quickly began assembling more Kryptonians to make the journey to Titan and discover what had occurred their. However, the new recruits, upon leaving Krypton’s orbit and the vicinity of their red star, quickly became deathly ill, and the two hundred new recruits died within hours of leaving Krypton. This pattern continued several times, until finally the council were forced to enlist the help of several members of the science guild, one of which was Rai-El, who would become a distant ancestors of Jor-El. All of the scientists brought in on the project were sworn to secrecy and soon began studying themselves in order to establish why they were dieing when leaving the planet.
It did not take long for the scientists to discover the root of the problem, their genetic biology had been subtly re-written, so far as that their tampered dna would even be passed onto their children. The scientist would spend centuries attempting to heal the damage done two their genetic make up, all to know avail, it seemed that the damage was permanent.
Over the course of the next one thousand years, Krypton suffered through many wars, and government upheavals. The majority of Krypton military had been killed on Dheron and the remainder on Titan, leaving them with relatively untrained soldiers to enforce law and order, which resulted in chaos, and relations between the ruling council and the general populace continued to deteriorate.
Prophecy & Birth Of The Star Child
The immortal Guardians of Oa had also taken a great interest in Krypton after a prophecy had been made by an ancient oracle. She prophesied that a Kryptonian of immense power would one day be born. This child would be a being of genetic and evolutionary perfection, unhindered by the biological weakness of his race. The Guardians believed this child would be an ideal future leader of the Green Lantern Corps. However, the oracle could not foresee the exact point in time which this child would be born, something which greatly troubled the Guardians. They were particularly worried during the time which Krypton was attempting to expanding their empire, fearing that if born during that time the child could be used as a weapon during their campaign.
Kal-El was born to Kryptonian scientists Jor-El and Lara. Unbeknown to his parents or the Kryptonian populace, Kal-El’s birth was a moment of cosmic importance. During Lara’s pregnancy, Jor-El made a horrifying discovery, the core of the planet had become dangerously unstable and threatened to consume Krypton. Krypton’s fate had been sealed two hundred and fifty thousand years ago when a device was created by rebel forces on Krypton during what was considered the planets most horrific war. The device which had been named the ’Destroyer’ was a weapon designed to mine to the core of Krypton, creating a chain reaction which would causing the uranium core to become unstable, resulting in the destruction of the planet if their demands were not met. However, their plan was thwarted by a ancestor of Kal-El, who was able to disable to Destroyer and capture the Kryptonian terrorists. Unknown to the council, despite stopping the Destroyer the damage had already been done, but slowed to an almost unnoticeable rate. The destruction of Krypton would still come to pass, but thousands of years in the future.
Jor-El took his findings to the ruling council, which at this point consisted of corrupt and ineffective politicians. Jor-El found himself ridiculed and branded a heretic by the council and was warned to not speak of such things again. Unable to except this, Jor-El attempted to spread his finding throughout the populace, but after several confrontations with the council he was threatened with execution if he continued his campaign of “fear mongering”, and his reputation was destroyed. The head strong scientist began searching for away to save the planet, but soon came to realise the futility of the situation. Krypton was doomed, and even if he could convince the council to heed his warnings there would still be know way to prevent the coming destruction. Evacuation of the planet was also impossible due to the genetic defect caused by the Dheronians which tied them to the planet.
During the midst of the young couples despair their son was born, whom they decided to name Kal-El, which in Kryptonian translates to Star Child. It soon became obvious that something was not right with the baby Kal-El. After only three weeks he possessed enough strength to crush small toys in his hands, and seemed unnaturally aware for an infant child nearing only a month old. Despite the knowledge of the coming doom, Jor-El and Lara’s curiosity as scientists won over and they decided to studying their son, taking dna samples and x-ray scans to better see into their sons biological make up. They were astounded to discover the incredibly complex dna structure their son possessed, but more so by the complete absence of the genetic defect present in all Kryptonians. Jor-El was also stunned to discover that Kal-El’s physiology was also successfully metabolizing red solar energy produced by their sun Rao.
Realising that without the genetic defect, Kal-El could successfully leave the planet without dieing, Jor-El quickly set about constructing a vessel which could carry his son to safety. Jor-El estimated that Krypton had mere months before global catastrophes would rock the planet which would soon be followed by the core finally exploding. Lara began studying the heavens to find a suitable planet to send their son to. She eventually settled on a distant planet called Earth, chosen due to the favourable environmental conditions, but more specifically because of the native inhabitants closely resembled Kryptonians in appearance, allowing Kal-El to walk among them unnoticed.
As Earthquakes and massive volcanoes began erupting all over the planet, Jor-El had finally constructed a prototype ship, but was still uncertain the crystal power source could sustain both the life support system and the force field generators needed to protect the ship from the dangers of space. With know time left, the young parents strapped Kal-El into the craft and tearfully said goodbye for the last time. They launched their son into space and embraced as their planet was destroyed by an explosion of nova force. Leaving Kal-El as the planets only survivor, The Last Son of Krypton.
On Oa
The guardians were pained to learn of the destruction of Krypton, and believed for many years that the Kryptonian child they had prophesied as their future leader was dead.
However, several decades later they would learn that there was in fact one Kryptonian survivor, who had grown up on Earth and became the human races greatest champion, otherwise known as Superman…
Seven Years Later…
The craft escaped Krypton’s orbit by mere minutes and kept Kal-El in suspended animation, immune to age, risk, and damage, for the entirety of the journey which lasted seven years. The ship flew true to it’s intent, and entered Earths atmosphere on the 29th of February 1988, streaking down from the sky in a fireball, landing in the rural farming lands of Smallville Kansas, where it was discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent.
The middle aged couple had greatly desired a child of their own but Martha was unable to conceive, something which had become a point of great sadness in her life. But upon holding the beautiful child for the first time, Martha was overwhelmed by a powerful motherly love and convinced Jonathan, despite his doubts, to take the child and ship home with then.
With know mention of the crashed spacecraft or the infant child on the news, they decided to adopt him as their own and renamed him Clark. He grew up on his parents farm, initially unaware of his alien heritage, but his difference from others became evident from a young age due to his inhuman strength. At he age of eight, Clark began developing an incredible array of powers, such as superhuman strength, enhanced senses, Impenetrable skin, and perhaps the most amazing of all, the ability to fly.
Clark found his powers exciting to begin with, but as he grew his abilities increased and new gifts began to emerge. His parents encouraged him to hide his abilities from the world, for fear that he would be taken away from them. Upon reaching the age of thirteen, things had escalated to the point where Jonathan and Martha felt they could not hide the truth of the day he came into their lives any longer, and showed him the alien ship they found him in. This confirmed what Clark had already suspected due to a series of dreams he had been having, but the truth left him feeling more confused than ever.
Kryptonian Powers & Weaknesses
Biology
Despite appearing to be an attractive human male in his early to mid twenties, Kal-El’s dna doesn’t match anything human. Because of his extremely complex biology, it is almost impossible for Kal-El to procreate with other alien races, including human beings, making him effectively infertile.
Kal-El also possesses several organs whose functions are not yet understood, but are thought to have been necessary for living in the environmental conditions of Krypton.
Solar Energy Absorption
The source of Kal-El’s incredible powers is due to the effects of solar radiation on his alien physiology. Unlike his ancestors who were only empowered by yellow stars, Kal-El can effectively draw power from all types of spectral radiation, even the red sun of Krypton’s system. Once fully grown, Kal-El is even able to maintain his power levels in a environment without solar energy, such as deep space, for great lengths of time without experiencing a decrease in power. This is likely due to his unique status as being born a genetically perfect Kryptonian.
Kal-El is literally a living solar battery. By the age of eight, Kal-El’s Kryptonian physiology had metabolized sufficient levels of solar radiation causing his full array of his Kryptonian powers to begin manifesting. His cells are constantly absorbing energy produced from the nearest star he is situated to, which his alien biology uses for sustenance and power.
Because of the efficiency of Kal-El’s solar absorption ability, if he does not burn off the necessary amounts of energy over a period of time his cells will begin radiating the unneeded solar energy, draining off excess radiation to manageable levels. If this occurs, the process of draining takes roughly one hour, and during this time his body seemingly begins glowing bright yellow energy. When this occurs, Superman’s cells evolve, and their capacity to store energy increases.
Extreme Longevity
The average Kryptonian life span was roughly three hundred years, unless powered by yellow sun radiation which completely halted their aging process. Kal-El is different, due to his unique status his cells are completely stable and do not deteriorate whether powered by radiation or not. Kal-El will not age beyond full physical maturity, and is seen thousands of years into the future still with the appearance of a healthy male in his mid-twenties.
Superhuman Physical Abilities
Chief among Superman’s Kryptonian powers is his incredible strength. His ability to lift, move, and create force is so great that it is comparable to the movement of tectonic plates within the Earth itself. He is considered to be the most powerful being on Earth next to Wonder Woman, and has stood toe to toe with some of the universes most powerful beings. Also, having grown up in the environmental conditions of Earth, specifically with beings far more venerable and weaker than himself, Kal-El has unconsciously developed perfect muscular control. This ability allows him seemingly superhuman dexterity, he can perform tasks which requires the physical use of his body, I.e. hands, with perfect and complete control.
Superman is able to run, react, fly, and process information at blinding speeds. Depending on the terrain, Superman can run at speeds exceeding the sound barrier, and can reach speeds of 800,000 miles per hour on foot. Energized by solar energy, Superman possesses near inexhaustible stamina. This is because his bodies nourishment Is produced from the solar radiation his cells absorb, giving him a constant source of rejuvenation and power. He also requires know sustenance from food, water, sleep, or even oxygen, and he almost never sweats unless performing a task which requires prolonged use of his powers.
Exposure to solar radiation has caused Kal-El’s cells to become nigh-on invulnerable to damage. He can withstand high impact forces and is unaffected by high or low temperatures and pressure extremes, both in space and in the deepest ocean. He is completely bullet proof, and while jarring, bombs also have no effect. He has even survived a planetary explosion, and has withstood a direct hit from Darkseid’s Omega beams, a feat previously thought impossible.
Flight
Superman’s favourite power, he is able to achieve independent flight, completely defying gravity. He began developing this power from the age of eight, and soon discovered that he could fly fast enough to escape Earth’s atmosphere and fly through space. He first experience of travelling trough space was at the age of ten, when he flew to the moon and watched the sun set over the Earth. He has complete control over his flight path and can perform graceful aerial manoeuvres with practiced ease.
Regeneration
Despite his great resistance to physical harm it is possible for Superman to be injured. However, if damaged, his physiology purposely utilizes solar energy to regenerate damage or even lost bodily tissue. This coupled with his invulnerability, allows him to endure extreme physical punishment, such as numerous broken bones, skull fractures, blood loss, and even disembowelment. He is also immune to the effects of all known Earthly diseases, viral infections, toxins, chemical poisoning, corrosives, and radiation exposure.
Heat Vision
Perhaps Superman’s most deadly ability, he can produce highly concentrated beams on solar energy from his eyes. The two beams are white hot red, and can reach temperatures comparable those produced in the heart of a star. His eyes light up bright red when he prepares to use this power, which can give him a somewhat demonic appearance, something which he has sometimes used to intimidate his opponents. In it’s most concentrated form, his Heat Vision is an effective weapon for up to five miles, but can also be released in a devastating blast, vaporizing anything in his vicinity. Kal-El’s physiology is so efficient at absorbing solar energy that any radiation, even those emitted by him, once in the environment are reabsorbed, giving him the ability to release seemingly unlimited amounts of energy without losing his strength.
Hurricane Force/Freeze Breath
Superman is able to draw in and compressing huge amounts of air, which he is able to exhale with incredible force, creating hurricane like effects. He has been able to exhale with enough force to halt a Tsunami. His lungs also possesses the ability to cool the temperature of the compressed air, which allows him to breath out ice cold winds, useful for putting out large fires or even freezing a target completely in ice.
Superhuman Senses
Superman’s eyes are able to see all ranges of the Electro-Magnetic spectrum, this gives him the ability to see various wave lengths of radiation and energy that is invisible to the human eye. However, there are some forms of energy that he is unable to see or detect through other means, such as magic or energy produced from other planes of existence.
Superman can also see incredible distances, going as far as while hovering in low Earth orbit, he is able to zoom in and clearly see targets on the ground. He can also see extremely small objects and images down to the sub atomic level.
Perhaps eyes most amazing ability is to completely see through solid objects at will, he can see through layer after layer of matter with precision, and can penetrate through all layers of the human body, useful for identifying internal injuries and diseases. How his X-Ray vision works is still unknown, as it gives of know radiation or any other form of energy while using it. Lead and other variations of the material block this power. Superman's other senses are almost as powerful as his sight.
Weaknesses
Kryptonite
Radioactive fragments of the planet Krypton, created during the explosion which destroyed the planet. A luminous green colour, a chunk hurtled towards Earth, and was later found by Lex Luthor. Kryptonite is deadly to Superman and has a verity of harmful effects, which usually include extreme pain, weakness, disorientation, and nausea. If exposed to a large sample for around one hour Superman would die. While he will never become immune to the effects of Kryptonite radiation, he has built up a degree of resistance to the substance with age.
Magic
Because Superman’s powers are a product of his physiology and based in alien biology, his invulnerability offers him little protection from magical attacks. While know magic has as of yet been able to directly destroy him, it has had unpredictable and sometimes debilitating effects on him. This weakness also extends to objects empowered, or bless with magic, such as Amazonian swords used by Wonder Woman.
Psionic Attacks
Superman’s body may be invulnerable but his mind is not. He does possesses a degree of resistance to psonic attacks, however, skilled telepaths are able to penetrate his minds defences. This was seen during Superman’s encounters with Maxwell Lord, who was an extremely powerful telepath, and was able to manipulate him into doing his bidding. However, this backfired on Maxwell when Superman became aware of the mental domination he was under, and began to resist. Maxwell began telepathically torturing him in an attempt to gain control of his mind once more, however, the experience was so damaging to Superman’s mind that to cope his psyche created an alternate persona known just as "Kal" a being driven entirely by Instinct, who is not held back by human traits such as morality or fear. In his Kal persona, he is completely immune to mental attacks or manipulation.
